I thought you said you got drunk in all the stores on Fifth Ave? But now your super sweet buddies bought you flats of beer?
Your stories are terrible.

This doesn't have to do with the OP, but make sure that the next time you are in Chicago, you have GIORDANO's Pizza! The best pizza ever.

Giordano's is delicious, but pizza is not sold in Chicago. Pizza flavored cake maybe, but not pizza.
The best pizza in the world is in New York and New Haven, CT. Different styles, but both amazing.
And in fairness to dj_patm, he's not the only one who eats at Sbarro in NYC.

Any places in particular you'd recommend? There's a chance I'm going to be spending a few days in NYC this summer. I've had some incredible pizza when I was in Italy and now I want to compare it to the best in New York; it'll be tough to beat.

^^Grimaldi's in Brooklyn at the end of the Brooklyn bridge. It was worth the 2 hour wait and when you wait like that with a ton of locals, you know it's worth it. You wouldn't believe how many Brooklynites I saw with undershirts on and 5 o'clock shadows slapping each other in the face. And make the best out of a bad situation and choose Amstel Light over Brooklyn Lager.
As for our DJ, I think NY is fantastic but an overrated city too in many ways and that's ok. I don't need to take people agreeing or disagreeing with me to heart like you did. I am my own man and don't let people influence me so, and that's why you are being made fun of. I mean, who is anyone to tell you that Sbarro's isn't 5 star Italian?

There are plenty of places that rival Grimaldi's, if you google "best pizza in NYC" you'll get a ton of different answers, but it does seem to generally be the pick. I like Totonnos on the Upper East Side, but it's also close to my place so that gives them an edge. Lombardi's in SoHo typically gets good reviews as well. Pizza 33 (33rd and 3rd, and also on 14th St) is pretty damn good for slices (the more old school places typically only do whole pies) and Artichoke on 14th St. does an amazing job, although it's a bit different than what you might have been expecting (think amazing artichoke dip on a slice, their traditional stuff is great too though). Bottom line, if you look for even a minute you'll find good pizza. Like anything in this city there are people that claim one place is king and others are terrible, but any place in the discussion is going to be good. Still haven't had anything that topped the slice I found at some little shop in suburban Milan though.
And why would you choose a beer like Amstel light that you can get anywhere over a beer that's only available locally? Try some of the local stuff (McSorleys, Brooklyn Lager, Blue Point, even Yuengling). If you're a real beer guy there are also lots of Belgian brew pubs around town that serve all kinds of crazy brews, the Blind Tiger on Bleeker is particularly good IMO.

EASILY my favourite American Beer.
So delicious.
I almost crapped my pants when I was at Disney World, and they were selling it there.
