I hope the Twins keep Mauer. For some reason I feel like the Sawx, Yanks, Tigers, etc stealing him away would be the worst travesty baseball has seen. The Twins need him.
Hes an amazing player.

Jays have picked up lefty Dan Eveland from the A's for a player to be named later.

I really like this deal. Eveland isn't a quite a starter, and didn't have good numbers, but his "stuff" is really good from what I've seen. I'm curious to see what the pitching staff can do with him, but I really like the competition aspect AA is bringing into training camp. Some of these moves have to pay off.

Bud Selig to get a statue in Milwaukee. I hope it's a popular target for the local pigeon population.

I follow the Yankees, they are my team and a lot of the players have been training for over a week now. Guys like Jeter and CC reported way early. Great to see after winning a World Series.

Such pros and model athletes.

From the Angels blog. I thought it was funny.

UPDATE: The poster-boards in the locker room and hallways outside the clubhouse at Tempe Diablo usually have that day’s (and the next’s) workout schedule posted by Angels bench coach Ron Roenicke. So I get in the habit of taking a look as I pass each morning.
This morning, the only thing posted was an official-looking piece of paper headlined “Major League Baseball’s Weapons-Free Workplace Policy.”
Thank you, Gilbert Arenas.

Wow, only one day of official workouts in the books and it sounds like the Yankees have already decided to put Chamberlain in the Bull Pen. So much for the much media hyped Joba vs Phil Hughes battle for the 5th spot in the rotation.

The Angels and Erick Aybar have reached agreement on one-year contract avoiding arbitration. Aybar will make $2.05 million this season with $50,000 bonuses for 575 plate appearances and 625 plate appearances. Aybar had originally asked for $2.75 million with the Angels offering $1.8 million.

Good, although I know that's going to piss off quite a few Yankee fans. I think he's better off in the pen.

Jeff Mathias has won his arbitration hearing and will get a significant bonus of 1.3 million. The Angels had offered him $700.000.

Hideki Matsui said his knees are not 100%. Not a good thing if the Angels plan on playing him in the outfield.

Chien-Mang-Wang has signed a one year $2Million deal with Nationals. He can earn up to 3$Million in incentives.

I think the Mariners will take the AL West pennant this season. Pretty good rotation as well. I'm going to miss Chone Figgins but I have can't wait to see what Brandon Wood has got.

Funny how things work out. Granderson goes to the Yankees in a trade and Damon signs with the Tigers. Pretty much a trade.
