I have also stopped watching Conan for the most part. I stopped watching for a couple of weeks and Andy is back on the couch?? Stewart/Colbert/Ferguson for me now.

It's funny how NBC botched this. Their late night talk show line-up was the only thing the network really had going for it.
Thursday night comedy block is one of the best 2-hour segments in network TV.

Has Conan really been that bad? Watched him alot in the summer and thought he was great. Have been really busy this year so I hadn't really seen him for awhile, but I've been watching him the past couple weeks during Christmas Break and I think he's still got it. Ya alot of the immature stuff(ie. Masterbating Bear) got cut but really, who didn't see that coming? I think you needed to have to grow up on Conan to really get his humour. Personally I think Letterman's the same way, as I didn't, and I don't really like him whereas some of my buddies swear by him.

I think this would be a big mistake if they did this. Lose Conan to a rival network so they can bring back Jay and his guaranteed ratings for what, 2-3 more years? And then what? Didn't the Tonight Show's ratings severely drop after Leno took over from Carson? It's only been 6 months, stop panicking NBC. You should be used to low ratings by now..

HUH?!! When did this happen? I'll have to tune back in if Andy is back on the couch. Andy was dumb off to the side doing the announcer thing.

Craig Ferguson is the best of late night despite his terrible guests.

Oh ya just noticed that on Monday actually. SO much better. It was so weird having him stand off to the side behind his little pedestal there. Now bring back the staring contests while you're at it!

I like Conan still, I think it's his personality which hasn't changed, but they need to do some more new stuff. I love Noches de Pasion and celebrity survey but not every week...

I'm lukewarm on Andy, some days it feels like the 90's again (and I liked those days) but other days it's just not funny.

Having said all that, I found that Dave is just a bit too...I dunno, unenjoyable lately. It's like he's mailing it in.

Andy comes and sits on the couch for some interviews and segments. He's at his little stand for the monologue. Personally I think the show needs more La Bamba.

The guy is 63 years old afterall!!!

When he retires, CBS will have an interesting slot to fill. I don't think that they will move Ferguson up. They realize he does well in the niche oddball slot (much like Conan did) but need a bigger headliner for the regular show.

Update, according to TMZ anyways-

OBrien will be pushed back to Midnight, and Leno will go on at 1130 for a half hour show. Choice is up to Obrien if he wants to stay.

What a joke. I hope Conan jumps now.

And for MRCboicgy(I don't know how to multi-quote), I hear ya about Andy. He's better on the couch, but its still not like it used to be in the 90's. Back then he seemed more chilled out and was just having fun, it seems more forced with him now.

Personally I think they should use more Conan & Max dialogue, I think they play off each other very well. It seems ever since the show's moved to L.A. they've completely abandoned that.

I hope Conan switches networks, and I think he will. NBC seems to have really handcuff his creativity, and even more so his on screen interaction with Andy.

Lol, I just watched Craig Furgeson's opening. The guy is the funniest on TV.

"Even after watching all the stuff that goes on over at NBC, I still feel as though we have the crappiest late night show on TV. But, at least we make the same crap at the same time every night."

Does Fox have a late night show? This could be a great chance for them to snatch away a top prize.

Leno should quit and do Top Gear America but that show will never get off the ground and even Jay doesn't believe in it with the way that American advertising works (BBC is publically funded). Jay's passion is cars anyway and he's appeared on Top Gear and his Electric Car race segment is based on Top Gear's celebrity around the track in a reasonably priced car segment.
Jay said he doesn't want to to a Top Gear America at all. Like you mentioned, in the States all the commercials are paid for etc. so they wouldn't be able to talk about the car in the way they felt, or they would have to talk about the advertised car, etc.

The first time I saw his lap thing was with the guy from Avatar, and the first thing to come to mind was "he got this from Top Gear, there is no doubt".

He really should do a car show, even if it is just him reviewing cars or talking about them, forget the challenges like Top Gear, because I'd still watch it.

Another part of the problem is that NBC has nothing to fill the 5 hour void formed by moving Jay. SVU, The Office and Biggest Loser can only get them so far. They new, good shows... and fast.

Leno was pretty funny about it last night. He said to Kev during the monologue that they should consider doing some traveling, and he had heard FOX was beautiful this time of year. Actually he took several shots at NBC during his monologue.

I watched Conan last night hoping he'd mention it as well, but no dice. He seemed a little off though, especially at the start. When they introduced him I notice it took him awhile to come out, and when he finally did he didn't have that usual spring in his step...though it could've just been me looking for something that isn't there.

From TMZ:
Quote:
As TMZ first reported, after the Olympics, Jay Leno will get his 11:30 PM time period back. We're told network execs have told Conan they will let him decide if he wants the midnight to 1:00 AM time slot. If he does, Leno's show will only be a half hour. If Conan walks, Leno will get a full hour, informed sources tell TMZ.

Our sources say Conan has not decided what he wants. We do know he's pissed, because he was given no advanced warning this was coming. Conan's people told NBC they are considering the offer. Translation: Mr. O'Brien -- I have Rupert Murdoch on line one, Stephen McPherson on line two, John Landgraf on line three, Jeff Wachtel on line four ...

We're told if Conan gets another offer, even though NBC could block the move, they will let him go and give Leno the full hour.

Haha that was pretty good, Jay was funny about it last night too. I really wanted to hear Conan say something too. That's just not how he rolls though, I'm actually not surprised he left it. People can say what they want about him being too goofy or not their brand of humour, but he's always been a class act. Possibly the best kept in check ego in Hollywood.

They're working on it, having ordered an unusually large number of pilots this season: http://forum.calgarypuck.com/showpos...&postcount=154
