If using John Daly is an example of why golf isn't a sport, then you have to say football isn't a sport either as most defensive lineman have the same physique(sp?).

I think a person should be able to sue someone who sleeps with their spouse while knowing he/she is married for the pain and suffering. There is no question they cause pain and suffering. This wouldn't negate the responsibility of the spouse who could still be sued for divorce. Also, you couldn't allow a lawsuit if the adultery didn't result in divorce otherwise your partner in crime would indirectly benefit from his or her adultery.
A better idea is to go back to the olden days of stoning adulterers. Charge admission and the proceeds could go to the affected spouse(s).

LOL. Actually stoning wasn't usually very painful. They threw the victim off a cliff and then chucked rocks at them. Usually the person died from the initial fall. I suppose you could try a gentle toss or a low cliff if you really didn't like the guy.
In all seriousness if you can sue someone for saying something bad about you why can't you sue someone who makes a sport of breaking up your marriage? Tiger deserves what he is getting but, these women shouldn't be making a profit and gaining fame for doing a despicable thing.

Is this a celebrity only law? I'm sure a lot of times people involved don't even know the other person is married. How you do ensure someone you are involved with isn't married? Cheating in a marriage isn't even a crime either.
These women making a profit is unrelated to the emotional damage to the marriage. 99.99% of the time the other person isn't making money selling their story. This is the exception, not the rule. Seems unnecessary to make a law that would impact a couple people a decade.
Imagine some dudes wife trying to sue some low level prostitute for sleeping with her husband in Vegas.

Walking 9 holes either carrying your clubs or using a push cart will burn around 720 calories. So 36 holes of golf will burn roughly 2900 calories. That's rpretty much the same amount someone running a 26 mile marathon would burn. Granted, the time frames are different, but that's the nature of each.
The time frame is a huge, huge factor. In the time it takes to play 36 holes of golf you could burn about 1500 calories cleaning the house or playing croquet. I can burn as many calories sleeping for 4 hours as I do running for 4 km, that doesn't mean they're anywhere in the same realm of exercise.
The caloric expenditure from golf is roughly akin to such activities as freethrow shooting, fishing, hackey sack, table tennis, and light yardwork.

I think there are people who make a sport of seducing married people. They get off on the danger and intrigue. Unfortunately this sport causes a lot of heart ache. Your right that the money Tiger's mistresses made isn't normal but, it still isn't right. The law would simply allow the person you hurt to sue for damages. There would have to be evidence he or she knew you were married which would eliminate liability to strangers unless like Tiger your prey was famous. There might not be a law against adultery but, certainly divorce with its emotional and financial cost is a pretty big penalty itself.
If you can sue someone for saying something hurtful about you in public or causing you or your property damage through carelessness why can't you sue someone for messing with your marriage?

You can't sue someone for saying something hurtful, you can sue them if they lie about you. There's a big difference. Libel and slander can and do have financial consequences if a person's reputation is harmed. And property damage has financial consequences, so it only makes sense that you can seek financial award for those damages.
You're suggesting suing someone over a strictly personal matter. What's next, suing someone for being a jerk?
If you're suggesting that divorce courts should take stronger notice of adultery in the splitting of assets in a divorce, I'd be inclined to agree with you. After all, say Tiger and his wife had no prenup and it was her doing the cheating, would it be right for to be entitled to half of his earnings? I don't believe so. However, you're talking about someone suing a 3rd party because their husband or wife cheated on them. That's crazy.
It would be sad and awesome at the same time if Tiger and his billion dollars just disappeared to a private island and never heard from again.
I can't believe this is such a big deal.
