Hey so i noticed turning left onto 16 ave from 19th st NW that we lost our turning light.
If there is too much snow on the ground do the sensors not activate? it was soooo annoying, i just went straight, did a uturn, and then a right turn.

My commute home last night was only slightly longer than normal (15 min instead of 10-12), then I drove from my house in the NE (Martindale) to the NW (Beddington) and that drive was only slightly longer than normal (25 minutes instead of 20), the ride back home didn't really take any longer then normal at all. This morning, my commute to work was only slightly longer than normal. Seriously, there's some of you that are taking 4 times as long as normal to do your commutes? Or, am I just lucky this time?

It's an old CP meme. Long ago, some idiot kid kept typing words like he was from "da hood". He made the mistake of using WDF instead of WTF and thus, became CP legend.

I'm not actually trying to stir the winter tire debate, but here's my story:
This is the first year I've ever bought winter tires. It ended up costing a pretty penny, but the CP masses were very persuasive. With a new baby on the way I decided it would be a good idea. Now that we have the kid my wife can't speak enough about the difference between last year and this year.
Last night we had a doctors appointment and were driving home around 6pm. You know when you are about to change lanes but notice it isn't safe and dart back into your lane? Some guy did this to me on macleod trail. We weren't going overly fast, but we were moving. He starts to edge into my lane, realizes i'm right there and pops back into his lane.
Unfortunately the tool behind him obviously didn't see him return to his lane, because she just blindly swings right into my lane. The first guy was close enough to give me a little heart skip, this chick was literally right beside me. I managed to swerve just enough to avoid getting taken out without going crazy enough to end up in the other lane. We had a bit of a John Woo moment where both our cars were sliding together at a 45 degree angle about a foot or two apart. I'm not much of a road-rager, but if I had the chance I felt like I could have taken a bat to that womans car. I can't believe in those conditions somebody would change lanes without shoulder checking ... having a 6 week old in the back seat just made everything twice as freaky.
It wasn't really till I got home that I realized if I had last years tires on I very well could have ended up completely backwards on a very busy road. Scared the sweet hell out of me.

You're just lucky with the routes you take or the times you are driving. Plenty of roads were gridlocked this morning; a coworker of mine was stuck on Anderson road for more than an hour today.

the bus ride home up Centre Street last night was agonizingly long. Luckily, I just took time to take a nap as I haven't been sleeping all that well lately. Felt bad for the poor people who didn't have a seat and had to stand for an hour.

I say, crank up the radio, and just relax. It's better to arrive at your destination late than to not arrive at all.
FYI, I'm talking to the people who cut into the shoulder lane and then try to merge back into traffic ahead on Deerfoot.

Exactly! It's best to not let things bug you that you can't control... I got stuck in that abortion of a road way that was Crowchild trail on Tuesday morning when I was trying to get back downtown after a rare appointment up in Crowfoot. I simply acknowledged that I was going to be late, turned on some music and hung out in the left lane with everyone else that couldn't be bothered to try and make sporadic lane changes that accomplish nothing.

I witnessed a white knuckled super struggler today trying to merge onto macleod off canyon meadows overpass at 15-20km/h. Honestly, if you're that inept just call in sick and stay home.

This morning I simply broke down and took the bus to the train station. Usually I drive to Dalhousie and train it from there, but I figured that a bus navigating only side streets to get to the train station would fare better and not risk some fatatard crashing into my back bumper for a second time this winter. Got to work downtown in under an hour and slept for a good portion. Not too bad at all.

You must have been driving at a different time than me because if someone would have merged on that intersection at that speed they would have plowed into people.

Me and the GF usually take the train, but she needs to go somewhere after work so we took her car. I was definitely missing the train this morning. I would much rather be sitting on the train reading a book than staring at red brake lights listening to 660 talk about how bad the traffic is and the latest Tiger Woods Transgression 2009 updates. Not to mention that the train would have gotten me to work on time as apposed to half an hour late as was the case this morning.

Took me 2 hours to get into work today. Usually takes me 25 minutes but that is when I leave my house at ~6 am. I was at the Flames game last night and then the Casino after that so I ended up sleeping in a bit today and didn't leave the house til 7 am. Damn Deerfoot.

On my vacation from my work these past few days- still drive my gf to a fro, to work and back. Commute is from Macleod/Heritage to Sunridge business park.
Last night: see Deerfoot is screwed, go down 16th to Earls and enjoy a nice dinner, then go back to Deerfoot for a slow, yet decent drive- wasn't sure if cutting through downtown would have been a good or bad idea at 6:45-7 last night, so went to Deerfoot.
This morning: slow and steady wins the race- took about 50 minutes, when it usually takes 20-25. Not that bad, considering.
Not looking forward to going back to work tomorrow.

It was around 8 am and the traffic was changing lanes and slamming on their brakes to avoid her. We were heading southbound which wasnt terribly busy.

The neon moved about two feet (which is not much considering that the intersection is ice). Naturally, the two young guys in the car both hopped out holding their necks like they were in agony. F'n chumps. I saw the whole thing. If that hurt them, I wonder what kind of pain they endure when high fiving after a flames goal.

Probably Canucks fans, they learned that from 7uongo
