How should I know? He went and got one anyway.

Tiger Woods is so rich that he owns lots of expensive cars. Now he has a hole in one.
What’s the difference between a car and a golf ball? Tiger can drive a ball 400 yards.
Tiger Woods wasn’t seriously injured in the crash, but he’s still below par.
What were Tiger Woods and his wife doing out at 2.30 in the morning? They went clubbing
Tiger Woods crashed into a fire hydrant and a tree. He couldn’t decide between a wood and an iron.

Yes this is being blown out of proportion. Although tiger has always put off the vibe that he is kinda the "mr perfect" type family man. So of course the media is going to make a hay day out of it. hope the best for him...

Woods' major endorsers, including Nike, Gatorade and Gillette, lined up on Monday to state their support for the golf great.
In September, Tiger Woods became the first athlete to earn $1 billion in a career, according to Forbes. Though his winnings on the golf course have netted him tens of millions of dollars a year ($23 million in 2008), his endorsements have more than quadrupled his earnings on the PGA tour. Sports Illustrated reported that Woods earned $105 million from sponsorship deals last year -- more than double any other athlete in the world.

My how the situation would have changed had HE beat the crap out of his wife, and not vice versa. (regarding the companies that endorse him)

This story reflects more poorly on our society than it does on Tiger Woods. The thirst for tabloid style gossip never seems to end. People are vultures, scrambling for that little piece of juicy dirt. Its pathetic.

Also, I doubt you'd be seeing the "leave the guy alone, it's a private matter, etc." viewpoint being brought up so often.
Rightfully so, I must add.

And you're basing that on what exactly? It's been all of 3 days, of course it's still a big story. Once there are no more things to talk about it will die off, people are still looking for a detail to come out, when the reports are the same thing over and over people will stop reading. We've seen this before.

Should he? Probably, but he's perfectly within his rights not to do so.

Nobody has to talk to the police. Dumbest thing he could do in this situation. Its what anyone with half a brain would do:
If you haven't seen it yet, watch the "Don't talk to Police" lecture here:

Apparently the cops are seeking his medical records from the hospital, to see if its consistant with a crash, or domestic abuse. I bet his wife beat him up, he took off, and doesn't want to admit it.

Well, considering the fact that he's the victim of the assault rather than the perpetrator (if the story is true), I would think this would be pretty common sense, no?
