I doubt that the mall would be willing to take on the liability. Or any private business, save professional road maintenance businesses.

Geez, i wish I had an awd vehicle. Was thinking of going to Walmart, which is like a couple minutes driving away from my house, but looking at that hill I have to climb and all the cars sliding into each other has deterred me.

Are you sure it's not the 400lbs wheezing, sweaty people wearing shorts?

well, part of the problem is that people dont understand to keep their tires moving! just idle but DONT stop!
a bunch of timid people cause the most problems.
anyhow, i have a Jetta with no special tires and im not saying i am anything special, but i was going around people in 4x4's who were stuck. what a great little car i guess.

Yeah, I also find the problem is people stomp on the breaks when they start to slide out. Not the thing to do.

True the legal stuff.
We need vigilante sanders. Kind of like DeNiro's character in Brazil, except with sand instead of A/C.

Apparently the fire fighters have gone vigilante. At the university, they've started hand-salting the roads.

Yes, the people of walmart candidates. Maybe I'll just walk to 7-11 to pick up my snacks.

The no breaks thing is key when sliding on ice. Unfortunately on "the hill" the traffic was stopped and almost bumper to bumper down the hill so you couldnt just cruise slowly.

Just went out for a quick trip, roads are pure ice in the N.W. Stay home.
BTW, an AWD vehicle can't stop any better than a FWD car.

We have an almost birds-eye view of Sarcee Trail and Bow Trail...Sweet Jeezuz, it's backed up to high heaven. There is no way I'm making my soccer game tonight at the Northwest Soccer centre. No car dare go into that area unless you've got a 4x4 monster.

Just got off the phone with the wife. She got off work at 5:15 and stopped for about an hour to have supper. So, she's close to 3 hours of "driving" now. This is normally a 20 minute commute. No guess as to when she'll actually get home.

Sounds like my evening.
Just got home at 8:30, left work at 4, minus an hour for dinner at some buttfata restaurant in the SW.
What a royal clusterfata, i am happy i had my winters, they got me up the hill on 69th right before i turned into old banff coach road.

Have you made the 29 feet yet? Are you home?

My wife left at 5:15 and just got home, minus the one hour dinner break.
I'm just thinking what all those Grey Cup visitors from Saskatchewan are going to say about winter drivers in Calgary. I say we preemptively blame this traffic on them. No coincidence that this shatashow happened on the day they all drove into town.

Well that was fun. Picked FireFly up to go have dinner - went straight up Deerfoot, took me 25 minutes. Road was wet, but fine. Head down Barlow to Memorial - backed up like mad, Centre Ave was closed after a bus crashed into six other cars. Got onto Memorial and found traffic parked on the onramp. Slowly made it through, as a crash backed up Memorial. Got to 26th to pull into the BPs, only to find 26th was closed due to another crash. So right back onto Barlow we go, up to 16th and head West to a little pizza place. Nearly every single road south of 8th Avenue was closed due to icy conditions, including Centre St. and Edmonton Trail. Took us over 2 hours to find a place to eat. Thank god for Peter Marher!
The north is a complete fustercluck. The south is fine.
