I agree with the controller completely. Nintendo's N64 and XBox360's controller are much better because of the way you hold it. The PS controller is somewhat small, so much so that you almost have to grip it which makes your hands ache after playing for awhile.

You're right. The thing is the controller hasn't really changed much from the ps1 to ps2 to ps3.

The reason I started noticing it now is because I had smaller hands and the controller fit perfectly way back then haha.

Ya they really need to go to a new style for PS4. 360 have the best controllers.

You'd be wrong. The tech already exists, it's called autostereoscopic. Phillips offered autostereoscopic TVs for a while (though they were $10K+), and Fuji just put out a 3D camera and viewer that use autostereoscopic displays. You can even do autostereoscopic prints.

I used to keep up with the 3D stuff a lot, but now I've got my gear I'm not following the new developments so much. 2011 is a bit puzzling though. Stereoscopic 3D is not that complicated. Why the wait?

I'd love to have one of these though.

What else would you need for 3D gaming? A certain type of TV?

Who said anything about the UI? I'm talking about the OS. I personally don't mind the new 360 GUI, but I wasn't talking about that.

I'm wondering if that tech is compatible with the blu-ray 3d standard? Would be interesting to know. I'm sure it would be with a firmware upgrade or two.

Keep in mind that the PS controller is designed for smaller asian hands, so if you have bigger hands of course it's not going to be as comfortable.

What's funny is the original xbox controller was a mammoth. They thought the controller was one of the reasons the xbox wasn't successful in japan so they brought out an S version which is now the one used today.

I've never really liked the XBox controllers...just feel too awkward when I'm using it.

Well I'm hoping the Blu-Ray 3D will be compatible with existing technology... proprietary crap is the last thing you need when trying to push a new technology. But Sony won the HD format wars, so they might be encouraged to try again.

In the absence of a definitive 3D format, players have emerged that'll work with any input and any output. IMO the best standard is right-left, with the right eye image on the left and the left eye image on the right, because this format can be viewed cross-eyed on any size screen with no special equipment. My player just needs to be told what format it's playing (videos are just .avi, photos .jpg or .jps which is just a renamed right-left jpg) to output it to my 3DTV, which needs checkerboard 3D.

The only thing that really needs to be developed is because 3D has largely evolved around 2D formats, there's no place to specify what the format is for 3D. Currently that info is stored by the player.

At this point, the only thing stopping me from playing the 3D movies you see at the theaters in my living room is that they're not released in 3D in any format. Give me the left and right eye files on a data DVD and that's all I need.
