PS3 to get 3D upgrade in 2011
http://ps3.ign.com/articles/104/1047594p1.html
A lot of people think 3D is a gimmick, but personally I love it, and can't wait for this. Managed to see the Avatar preview in 3D, it blew my mind. I'm going to hop on this for sure. Although upgrading TV's will suck for sure.

I'm guessing this won't require 3D glasses? lol

It will, unfortunatley. I dont think there is any 3D tech coming out in the near(ish) future that wont require them. It wont be the red/blue crap stuff though which is all I really care about, that 3d effect is brutal.

You will probably need to buy a new TV unfortunately. One that does 120hz

maybe they could work on not making the xmb suck....
its kinda sad really... like one of the main things of the version 3 upgrade was adding sparkles and rectangles (thanks for the quote koop) and then the latest update a big feature was the ability to change your rectangles color. whoop-dee-doo.

What pisses me off is they added the ability to play music in the background, buy I haven't found one single game that lets me do it.
If MS ever got their heads out of their asses and added Blu-Ray to the 360, the PS3 would completely disappear off the face of the planet forever.

Yep. Really stupid of them to jump into bed with HD-DVD before the market had decided a winner. You'd think with how many new versions of the 360 have been released that they would have included Blu-Ray at some point, although that would probably cause a compatibility issue with 360 games.

Then I hope they never put a BR player in the 360. I would hate to have that junker of a console as the only one on the market.
Not sure how well 3D viewing will go over. Until the need for viewing glasses of some type is eliminated, I don't think it will see too much mainstream application.

My wish is to some how be able to run 360's OS on my PS3. I'd finally be rid of that useless PS3 UI and also be able to play 360 games... all on the PS3's higher-quality/performance hardware.
I have a dream...

I have a lazy eye, so I have no binocular vision. Therefore, any 3D tech is useless to me.
Having no depth perception kinda blows. I have always wondered what it's like.

What?! You mean you're NOT going to use the facebook integration to tell your friends you got a trophy in NHL10?

Since project Natal's in development stages still, wouldn't shock me if they took a look at incorporating 3D to it as well, since it would give you a more in-the-game feel to something you're supposed to already feel more in the game doing.

This is kind of off topic, but did you ever get a second opinion? My brother after moving out west had to get new glasses, rather than just buying them and giving his old prescription, when my mother was out to visit him she made him get his eyes checked first.
All seems normal, until the doctor sat the two of them down and said "did you know you have __________ wrong with your eye" (what I don't remember). He said it effects depth perception. New prescription, new glasses, and all of a sudden my brother could see depth. It wasn't that bad, only for distances, but it was such a gradual change he never noticed until it was corrected.
Not saying you've got the same thing, but apparently they can help that in some forms.

Nah. I was born premature (lazy eyes sometimes occur along with other problems for preemies), and there's nothing that really can be done about my lack of depth perception.
Thanks for your concern though.

Wait, people actually want the 360 OS on the PS3? WTF? The 360 OS is garbage in comparison, it's not laid out in a logical order. At least the PS3 one is simple, and functional.
What else would you need for 3D gaming? A certain type of TV?

Agreed. The PS3 OS may not be great, but it's a lot better than the 360 IMO.

I just tried a PS3 for the first time today. What a terrible controller! My left thumb kept falling off the joystick. Hard to top the beauty that is the 360 controller
