Hey gang, something neat has happened this week...

Patch Tuesday came and went, with critical pathches released for every Microsoft OS except Win7.

Here's hoping this is a trend that will continue. Nobody reasonably expects Win7 to be perfect on the security front, but if we can reduce the number of critical patches released for the platform every month, that is great.

This thread isn't as interesting as it once was...

Anyhow, Windows 7 is fantastic. Theres is a slight performance hit I've noticed on games older than 2 years (TF2, Portal, WoW, Battlefield 2 etc.), but any recent game runs strides better than they did in my copy of XP Pro.

Seriously, Arkham Asylum runs like butter, Borderlands chews up scenery, and Dragon Age is a dream.

Not to mention the upcoming DX11 games.

OT (sort of): Does Mac have any plans on allowing 2-way/3-way/4-way SLI available (with deals with nVidia or ATI for the NB tech I assume) in the future? Because that's a big deal 'round these parts.

Not sure if this is what you're asking, but you can order a Mac Pro with 4 nVidia cards in it. I assume they're linked together (4-way SLI).

SLI(except for the single card variants) has far as I can tell aren't supported on workstation motherboards. The cards are there to provide multiple outputs for monitors.
Also SLI or Crossfire aren't supported in Mac OS X.

Thats what I was wondering about.

I figured there was a chance with the new MacPro's using the core i7 chips that they might, since the i7-900's eliminate the northbridge by handling PCI-E on-die now.

The Pros haven't updated in a while though. I think they're due next.

Edit: Yep, it appears they are expected to be updated soon. http://buyersguide.macrumors.com/#Mac_Pro Note that this doesn't actually mean that SLI support is coming, I'm just saying that they should be updated soon.
