Default Your Favorite Movies of the Decade

So I got this idea from watching At The Movies a week ago(just isn't the same without Siskel or Ebert...the new guys are pretentious boobs).

They're counting down the best movies of the last decade as its coming to a close. I thought it would be fun to do the same thing.

So here's my top 10 list of my FAVORITE movies of this decade. Not what I think are the best. FAVORITE!!!

10. The Pianist-Adrian Brody just nailed this role. A very hard movie to watch in terms of its subject matter, but if there's a way to make a movie about the Holocaust beautiful, The Pianist definitely does it!

9. United 93-Paul Greengrass did a wonderful job in telling the forgotten story of 9/11. One of the most intense movies I have ever seen and will never forget the final minutes of this movie.

8. Transformers-Screw all the haters. The most fun I had at the movies in 2007. From start to finish, I was having a blast.

7. Bowling for Columbine-The first documentary I saw in the theatres. There wasn't a whole lot here that totally shocked me, but Moore did this movie with such care and compassion, that really can't be forgotten. Wonderful movie!

6. 40 Year Old Virgin-Easily my favorite comedy of the last 10 years. From start to finish, I was in stitches. Whether it be the waxing scene or the dating game or the guys playing poker, I loved every minute of it

"You know how I know you're gay??"

5. Zodiac-I truly believe this is one of the most underrated movies of all time. Nobody gives this flick any credit. Fincher's best work since Seven was intense, sad and frightening.

4. Iron Man-I knew very little about the Iron Man character going in. So I have no idea if it was accurate or a pile of crap. I don't care, I thought this was a fresh, slick superhero movie. Downey Jr. was great and how can you not like Pepper???

3. The Dark Knight-Pretty much everyone and their dog enjoyed this one. Brilliant texture and Ledger's performance is unforgettable. I don't believe Ledger's death over shadowed this movie because this movie was THAT GOOD.

2. The Departed-hmmm, the only Best Picture winner on my list. Very cool, slick crime drama. I've never loved a character as much as I loved Marc Whalberg's. He was fabulous. Scorsese probably deserved his Oscar for his work before this, but he was definitely deserving.

1. Amores Perros-One of my top 5 films of all time and I'm pissed that I only saw this a year ago. Funny, sad, tragic, intense, complex all wrapped into one, or three different storylines. Loved the multi-layered story. You are truly doing yourself a great dis-service by not seeing this wonderful film by Alejandro Gonzalez Innaritu

HONORABLE MENTION......there's so many I wanted to put into this but just didn't have enough room

Batman Begins, Casino Royale, Inglorious Basterds, Kill Bill 1 and 2(my toughest decision was leaving these out), The Reader, Crash, Brokeback Mountain, No Country for Old Men, I Love You Man, Clerks 2, Paranormal Activity, Saw, Man on Fire, Minority Report, Babel, Slumdog Millionaire, Million Dollar Baby

edit.....can't believe I didn't put in Snatch. Totally forgot about that one. It would definitely make my list if I re did it. But im not willing to do that now.

For the record, I am not a Lord of the Rings guy.....I know, blasphemy but those movies were boring as hell for me.

Wow. No offense, as I'm sure you've heard this a lot on CP, but that is one blasphemous list. I don't think a single one of those is in my top 10. Maybe, maybe TDK gets an honorable mention.

I do like that you made sure to put favorite. It drives me insane when people confuse best with favorite.

OK, off the top of my head, in NO particular order, yet:

There Will Be Blood: Best acted movie of the decade.

American Psycho: Bale at his best. Great interpretation of the novel IMO.

Last Samurai: I hate Tom Cruise but this movie was almost as good as Gladiator, speaking of which...

Gladiator: the roman epic returns in this amazing best picture winner. The first 15 minutes is among the best action scenes of all time.

Syriana: Clooney was amazing, so was Damon. This movie was confusing but great.

Lord of War: I don't know why I loved this movie so much but I did.

Bad Santa: Easily the best comedy of the last 10 years. None of the Apatow movies come close.

Snatch: Guy Ritchie's writing is at least as quirky and interesting as any Tarantino movie since Pulp Fiction.

Sin City: One of the best comic adaptations ever.

Donnie Darko: If you haven't see it go do so right now.

A Beautiful Mind: A little slow at times but just a great movie about redemption, frustration and being completely bats*** insane.

The Two Towers: I wanted to put all three LOTR movies but I didn't really like the 3rd one. I guess the first one was pretty damn good too but just like the "other" trilogy, this one's strongest movie was II.

I think that is like 12, and I probably forgot a few but after REALLY quickly browsing my movie collection that is what I came up with.

While I agree There Will Be Blood was well acted. I just didn't really get into it.

I can't do a top 10 list.

Mystic River, Gone Baby Gone, Collateral, The Dark Knight, Zodiac, Children Of Men, Minority Report, The Bournes, Casino Royale, Training Day, Jarhead, Assassination Of Jesse James, The Departed, No Country For Old Men

Forgive me if some of those aren't from this decade, but I think they all are.

Oh and the only 'major' difference in Iron Man was the made the butler the AI in the house. Which is fine with me.

I don't get the Hype surrounding Iron Man, I didn't think it was all that great.

I really think there was such a long string of horrible Marvel Comic movies that the fact that they managed to create one that wasn't awful got the movie far more credit than it deserved.

I can't list 10 but TDK, The Departed, Casino Royale, Pineapple Express, and Rambo would be in my top 10. Bourne Trilogy and LOTR Trilogy as well.

To be it was the 'fun' factor, much like Transformers. Even though I prefer Iron Man. I'm curious to see what Iron Man 2 is like though. As well, Transformers 2 was garbage.
