So I got this idea from watching At The Movies a week ago(just isn't the same without Siskel or Ebert...the new guys are pretentious boobs).
They're counting down the best movies of the last decade as its coming to a close. I thought it would be fun to do the same thing.
So here's my top 10 list of my FAVORITE movies of this decade. Not what I think are the best. FAVORITE!!!
10.
The Pianist-Adrian Brody just nailed this role. A very hard movie to watch in terms of its subject matter, but if there's a way to make a movie about the Holocaust beautiful, The Pianist definitely does it!
9.
United 93-Paul Greengrass did a wonderful job in telling the forgotten story of 9/11. One of the most intense movies I have ever seen and will never forget the final minutes of this movie.
8.
Transformers-Screw all the haters. The most fun I had at the movies in 2007. From start to finish, I was having a blast.
7.
Bowling for Columbine-The first documentary I saw in the theatres. There wasn't a whole lot here that totally shocked me, but Moore did this movie with such care and compassion, that really can't be forgotten. Wonderful movie!
6.
40 Year Old Virgin-Easily my favorite comedy of the last 10 years. From start to finish, I was in stitches. Whether it be the waxing scene or the dating game or the guys playing poker, I loved every minute of it
"You know how I know you're gay??"
5.
Zodiac-I truly believe this is one of the most underrated movies of all time. Nobody gives this flick any credit. Fincher's best work since Seven was intense, sad and frightening.
4.
Iron Man-I knew very little about the Iron Man character going in. So I have no idea if it was accurate or a pile of crap. I don't care, I thought this was a fresh, slick superhero movie. Downey Jr. was great and how can you not like Pepper???
3.
The Dark Knight-Pretty much everyone and their dog enjoyed this one. Brilliant texture and Ledger's performance is unforgettable. I don't believe Ledger's death over shadowed this movie because this movie was THAT GOOD.
2.
The Departed-hmmm, the only Best Picture winner on my list. Very cool, slick crime drama. I've never loved a character as much as I loved Marc Whalberg's. He was fabulous. Scorsese probably deserved his Oscar for his work before this, but he was definitely deserving.
1.
Amores Perros-One of my top 5 films of all time and I'm pissed that I only saw this a year ago. Funny, sad, tragic, intense, complex all wrapped into one, or three different storylines. Loved the multi-layered story. You are truly doing yourself a great dis-service by not seeing this wonderful film by Alejandro Gonzalez Innaritu
HONORABLE MENTION......there's so many I wanted to put into this but just didn't have enough room
Batman Begins, Casino Royale, Inglorious Basterds, Kill Bill 1 and 2(my toughest decision was leaving these out), The Reader, Crash, Brokeback Mountain, No Country for Old Men, I Love You Man, Clerks 2, Paranormal Activity, Saw, Man on Fire, Minority Report, Babel, Slumdog Millionaire, Million Dollar Baby
edit.....can't believe I didn't put in Snatch. Totally forgot about that one. It would definitely make my list if I re did it. But im not willing to do that now.
For the record, I am not a Lord of the Rings guy.....I know, blasphemy but those movies were boring as hell for me.
