LOL! hahahaa I love the fact that you guys are coming up with excuses why its going to work in abby because they are starving for pro hockey and that they wont have a problem with the team being in stupid nuck land. But now you cant argue the fact that this was a horrid move.

They (fans in abbotsford) according to sutter are sophisticated hockey fans and are much better than us hicks in the mid west and will pack the stands... They make QC look like a good hockey market. I love the flames and think its funny that you're taking pop shots at me. I will point out that they are failing just like you and your squad poked fun at us for not packing the stands when I went to over 100 QC flames games in the last 2 years.

But It makes me feel better making fun of the smart hockey fans that dont bother to show up that sutter and company strong armed the league into moving there because its such a great fit.

I love the Flames but I have a feeling that one of these times people are not going to play and pitch a tent for sutters circus. they just wont lose the money and the Flames will either have to finally put up the money to run the farm team or just share a team with another team in the league.

I dont even live in the QC area anymore no were near it tbqh and I could care less if they were in the qc area since I wasn't going to be there. I just hated the fact that you and some others cdc paste eating trolls (had too) were poking fun at us fans like dobbles, Sparkyone, and Drunkskunk, and myself about not supporting our team when we know that we did everything in our power.

With all the money that the abbotsford group said and lied about (IE close to 4k sth's) that they have to be on average around what 5k to break even for every home game? I will take that with a grain of salt and say it has to be closer to 6k a game to break even. They are paying teams to come to town to play them and I bet the only sell out is a Moose game and they couldn't even sell out the very first game ever.

Until Calgary owns the AHL team they will never get some AHL ringer to help put butts in the stands they wont care about how bad the team is or how bad the owners are bleeding money.

I would hate for them to leave in another year or even this year because a half assed plan that king and sutter threw together.

/rant.

Thank you for illustrating my point. I don't see anyone making excuses. I just see you harping on the attendance almost daily.

PIMking - I understand your anger in having lost a team that you dedicated a lot of time, money and emotion into. However, to imply that Abby is a failed experiment based on what, 2 home games? Is a little bit ridiculous. I don't think your assesment of 6000 fans is correct and while neither of us know the details of the agreement that brought the Heat to Abbotsford, I would assume that the payments to fly teams out are a temporary cost, as opposed to a fixed cost. I agree that QC never had the opportunity to cheer for a winning team, but I can almost guarantee that if the Heat are within 1 point of making the playoffs, there will be some sold out nights. They have a very sofisticated media outlet (Country 107 FM on the radio and Nightly News available on Youtube).

Even for the 4500 some in the preseason (paying regular season prices) against the Moose, I did not get the sense that it was primarily Canucks fans or Flames fans. It felt a lot more like a lot of people supporting their home team. Obviously Moose goals were cheered for, but the Heat's were definitely more/louder. Cheering for the Heat is not cheering for the Flames, and I think if you would ask the average person/family that attended the game, they would agree. The one thing that will make a big difference early on (a luxury that QC, much to your frusteration did not have) is a big playoff run. Nothing creates fans better than some rivalries and playoffs.

On a personal level, I have nothing but respect and thanks for you supporting a team that we both cheered for, especially with said team having a lot of long nights. I think we are both upset that QC did not work out, but as a fan I cannot help but be optimistic that it will work out in Abbotsford. I respect your insight and hope for the best.

I would suggest PIM you simply start a thread dedicated to the topic of attendance comparisons in the two markets so people can talk about it there. That allows these threads to focus on the hockey.

Nah I'm done.

Like I said I'm a flames fan first and it happend that sutter moved the team to QC. I can care less if they were leaving because I moved to alabama. I just wanted to point out the obvious but I'm done.. GO FLAMES GO
