Hahaha... Chris Berman making fun of the Seahawks jerseys and comparing them to other terrible sports jerseys... including the gross V style of the Canucks.

Remember when teams wouldn't have their punt returners field punts inside the 10 yard line?
Because more and more teams seem content with having their punt returners do just that. Dallas dude tonight fair caught one at the 5. And that is not an isolated incident, at least from my anecdotal watching of games through three weeks.
Has there been a shift in thinking that the five is better than the one (assuming Carolina could down it there)? Punt returners being stupid? Coaches have re-thought the don't-catch-it-inside-the-10 thing and didn't let the rest of us know?
Or just me seeing stuff that really isn't there.

If anything, I think punters are getting better and better. Directional punting and putting more hangtime to allow coverage to get down field is of huge importance now.
But, I don't notice it any more now than previous years.

Jake Delhomme is terrible. Can't believe they couldn't even beat a 9 point spread.

I have noticed a lot of fair catches between the 5 and the 10 too. The rules are just so stacked against the punting team to try and down the ball near the goal line that I'd let the ball go. I'd guess that 60% of the time the ball would roll into the end zone for a touch back, you'd never muff a punt and risk a turn over, and at most you'll lose like 7 yards, 3 and a half of whcih you'd end up taking a false start penalty with on the road on first down anyway. But I think a lot of these returners lose track of where they are on the field.
Carolina...they're now officially in trouble. Delhomme was not good, but their running game has got to be better than what it was tonight for them to have any chance.

There's not that many elite teams this year so far as there are a lot of teams with promise and a whole lot of just awful teams. Kansas City, Carolina, Washington, Oakland, Tampa Bay exc.

I'd agree with that. Although your ommission of Cleveland there is poor form, and St.Louis has a serious lack of talent too aside from Stephen Jackson.
The teams who'll be 3-13 or worse are easy to pick out right now and there could be 6 or 7 of them. The teams who'll win 11 or more games, not as much. Could be a year with a lot of teams with 10-6 type records missing the playoffs and all the bottom teams racking up the losses.
I wonder if a few more teams have decided to overhaul things knowing next year won't be a cap year and that a lot of rich teams will open up the wallets to try and go for it while they can wield some serious financial clout.

Good points Syl. I was gonna bring up another topic but you touched on it a little so i'll just ask it here.
Of the seven teams that are 3-0, who are the contenders and who are the pretenders from that group? I guess the same question could be posed for the 0-3 teams (who really is that bad and who has had some bad luck and is better then 0-3)?

All the 3-0 teams sans the Broncos are for real IMO. The Jets may be a bit overhyped at this point because of Sanchez being a rookie, but that defense is freaking awesome. The Colts are really good, but injuries on D may be their undoing. The Giants and the Saints both look unstoppable, but that Giant D makes them the faves IMO.....unless Favre goes injury free and pulls out games like he did yeaterday. That team has no holes anywhere.
Of the 0-3 teams only the Titans are better than their record IMO. That being said they arent making the post-season anyways as only 5 teams in the history of the NFL have started 0-3 and still made the playoffs. And Pittsburgh at 1-2 are WAY better than that...and with that coach will get things straightened out and soon.
Cleveland may be the worst team of all the bad ones...that thing has unravelled into complete and utter chaos the last 2 weeks. St.Louis has some pieces but are just so inexperienced. KC is a rebuild...obviously and are a ways away. The Dolphins are better than 0-3 as well, but as i said last year and to anyone that would listen this year...they were beneficiaries of a really weak sched last year as well as running that wildcat and defenses not being able to adjust. Thats a neat wrinkle for a limited amount of time, but at some point you have to be able to line up under center and throw downfield and/or pound the ball up the gut. Teams are starting to figure it out now, and as such it will be come less used by all clubs as we get into November and December.

No! I will keep my unbridled Bronco homerism alive! Dallas hasn't blown my socks off, and after Orton manages the game, no turnovers, Romo has two picks, and the Broncos beat the Cowboys next week people will be singing a different tune.

3-0 pretender: Denver
They've beaten Cincinnati in a fluke, Cleveland, and Oakland.
Their next 5 games are: Dallas, New England, Baltimore, San Diego, Pittsburgh. They could easily be 3-5 after that stretch.
0-3 "contender": I don't think any are true contenders, though Tennessee is the best 0-3 team.
Tough to imagine that they could win their divsion with Indy in the lead, and an 0-3 start will make a wildcard spot difficult.
