I was thinking there might be at some time, when Telus makes me a good offer. I figure at some point they probably will so that they can have my phone, internet and TV contracts.
Would the receivers work if that happened?

I have another question ... Does Telus actually keep track of the bandwidth usage on their accounts?
According to the fine print, my ADSL account has a maximum download amount of 60GB, which is nowhere near enough.
I exceeded it last month by 10GB's, and nothing seemed to happen. What happens if I exceed it by 200GB's?

As long as your a Bell client, TELUS will never send you an offer, as per the agreement with Bell.
As far as your B/W issues, right now TELUS doesn't really enforce the 60 gig cap unless you really go over it. We do have an abuse department that will send you a warning letter 1st.
If you go over 100 gigs rest assured you will probably get a letter

Why doesn't Telus provide coverage in the United States? I've always found this to be really irritating.

If you mean roaming, that's up to US carriers. TELUS as far as I know tho is about to renegotiate some roaming charges, but that's just speculation and certainly nothing official

They aren't keeping track right now at all. I'm a huge bandwidth user by virtue of using Mozy to perform online backups, and I've never been contacted by Telus. This is consistent with everyone else's experience, as per dslreports.com

So, what about my Telus iPhone I asked about a few pages back. When can I pick it up?

What do you mean by huge?
If your limit is 100gigs and you're using 150gigs, they might not say anything.
But if your limit is 100, and you're using 500, they probably would say something. At least from what I've heard.

In the last 30 days I've used a combine up/down total of 500 gigs
Since July 15th, when I started monitoring, my combined numbers are just north of a terabyte.
They don't call, trust me.

Trust me there is. However, if I continue I'd be giving up a company secret I shouldn't, so, for now I will say in some situations you can use a lot of bandwidth with no repercussions.

There is what?
The fact is they don't call about bandwidth use currently. They also don't have any facility online for users to check their bandwidth. If anyone on CP has been called by Telus, for bandwidth, I'd love to hear about it.
If you can't/won't substantiate your vague comments, don't bother commenting.

I've seen peoples accounts been suspended by the abuse team for over downloading. We DO track peoples bandwith issues, however, there is a glitch that allows a lot of people to surf with impunity. I will not state this glitch for obvious reasons, but, as a TELUS employee who has seen it with my own eyes and dealt with a couple people who have had their accounts suspended, you CAN get your internet cut off for using too much data (after a warning of course)

Is there such a problem with bandwidth that they have to set limits?
You'd think that with the backbone in place nowadays, they could handle huge bandwidth loads.

The problem is 90% of the people out there aren't a problem. Actually, I just some graphs and data that were really fascinating; 1% of users in Alberta and BC use 9% of the entire data downloaded/uploaded
There are 2 ways companies will handle this. 1 they will throttle ports and stuff like p2p, or, charge users for going over their limits
