I wouldn't say TELUS sucks, but the company has had some very public customer service issues that didn't help image

I owe them like $700 for a cable bill, and I've been avoiding them for the better part of three years.

I have a telus cell phone.. have had it for over 10 years now.

I get a discounted rate plan. Never had any problems except for some minor billing issues that got cleared up right away.

I like Telus.

When will GSM be available in Calgary? I want an iPhone without having to switch to Rogers.

GSM for TELUS is actually coming much faster than you'd think. I'll give you a better answer tomorrow but if it was available within a year I wouldn't be surprised

So at the very minimum I'm looking at a full year until I can get a Telus iPhone then?

The new PVR's that they are offering with the cable bundles, are they single or dual tuners?

Are TELUS ever going to stop using those animal on white background commercials?

I also have only been on Telus with my cell phone.

Only problem I have is because its not a smartphone(waiting for the Iphone)....I'm stuck with all the stupid stuff Telus forces on it.

I can't use my own mp3s as ringtones, etc, etc.

Otherwise they've been good to me, and their coverage in my area is superior to anyone else.

...which, if I remember right, were actually Clearnet's before that company was acquired by TELUS? Those stupid commercials have been going on for ten years or so, and I'm glad I'm not the only one who's sick of them.

Is Telus ever going to stop using their own software on phones? That is one of the biggest factors with Telus. Sometimes I want to have my own ring tone without paying $1.00 for it, or even put my own music on it.

If they ever got rid of that, I would have no qualms with Telus. Besides that ***** who gave me **** when I cancelled with Telus.

It kinda went like this.

'I'm at the end of my contract and would like to cancel at the end of the month'
'Sir, we need 30 days to process etc. (something like that)'
'errr... okay, well that's fine'
'So what is the reason for cancelling?'
'I'm not happy with your phone service, and the coverage in my apartment is bad'
'Sir, we have the best coverage in Canada and going to any other cell phone companies will not be an improvement'
'Can you tell me why the rogers phone that I'm talking to you has not cut off yet, while if I were to call you with my Telus phone that it just cuts off?'
'Like I said sir, it is most likely some interference in your place as telus has the best service in Canada'
'Well, if Rogers is going to work for me, then I'm going there'
'Why would you do that? We offer the best services, and value for our phones'

At this point... it just kept going on and on... then she stopped using her 'nice' voice and was in her 'don't waste my time' voice.

That one moment has made me very bitter about telus. Very. Shoddy customer service.

I tend to deal directly with the place where I signed up for my plan. I know both consultants there personally, so I get great service all the time.

Both of them have gone above and beyond to help me out with problems in the past. And they're honest about cost, and went over the fine print point by point and explained it to be me when I first got a cell phone.

I had a similar experience, she even went to the point of saying how she was some manager or senior something and other and didn't want to waste her time on me,

At which point I made very clear that it was her questions and drilling that extended the entire conversation, my cancelling the plan should have been a 3 minute conversation. Once I got that tone, I chose to play keep her on the line as long as possible, the phone call lasted another 20 minutes, after she wasted my first 25. I was pretty happy about how annoyed she sounded by the end.

Telus does have poor customer service, good pricing, poor service. perhaps inconsistent service is more appropriate.

Why does Telus require you to have a home phone if you want to sign up for internet access. I HATE shaw but I HATE having to pay for home phones even more - have a cell.

Not in the near future, they're very popular

They're dual tuners with the dual tuning function turned off. It's a bandwidth issue, and can effect quality. There is a trick to use the dual tuner function tho

TELUS doesn't require a home phone for internet, you were misinformed. You can have dark DSL, what is refered to as "no local". TELUS simply has a policy of trying to sell a phone if they can, as part of "owning the home". The most services a client has, the less likely they will "churn" (cancel) to another provider

Labeling a company as having bad customer service based on a phone call you had isn't really fair. With a company as big as TELUS, there's bound to be a few bad apples and some bad calls. My experience with Rogers has been a nightmare... but I dont think they have bad customer service just based on couple calls
