Open Letter to Section 218

I think I'm starting to get the hang of this thing. Here's one that's a little out there but pretty creative in my opinion. How about we all yell during "see"? You know because "see" sounds like the letter C which of course represents Calgary symbolically. Wait, what's that you say? Some of you already do that last one? Oh I'm sorry, I didn't mean to step on anybody's creative undertakings.

Maybe you couldn't tell but that last paragraph was oozing in sarcasm. I'm sorry but I just can't take another season full of this idiocy. What you're doing is not cool, it's not cute, it’s not rebellious, it's not creative, it doesn't say anything and it's not supportive. The only thing it really does is say "look at me" and not in a good way either. It says, "look at me, I'm an obnoxious ######." Now I suppose there's an argument to be made about how disrespectful it is too but I'm not here to make that argument. I'm opposed to this based purely on how stupid it is, it honestly makes me cringe everytime it happens. And so, I'm BEGGING you all, PLEASE STOP. Show some dignity. I'd hate for visitors to get the wrong impression that Calgary is just full of dumbass rednecks... errr... well regardless…

And as long as we're on the topic, those of you who scream out random stuff like "Go Kipper" inbetween verses of either anthem, you're not much better than the "red" people. You're just like the guy who screams "get in the hole!" after a golfer putts. Do everybody a favour and listen to Jim Rome’s take on get-in-the-hole-guy. Unfortunately you guys are too random and scattered that I'll never be able to get you to stop. But section 218, you guys are organized and this is clearly orchestrated so I'm hoping one of you reads this and passes it on. Stop the madness.

Well as one of the many 218 section faithfulls on this board, I feel somewhat guilty for this timely rant.

The timing of this thread really couldn't be any more humorous due to the fact that during the Thursday night pre-season game I shouted "Red!" at the wrong time and was at the short end of the chuckles in the surrounding sections.

I think you should sell your tickets or at least come forth with your complaints to us during the game with some courtesy beers.

Lol. A couple years ago I was at a game and I caught a bundled up tshirt that the ice girls were tossing out to fans. A little while later, some punk started descending the stairs in the middle of a play and was blocking my view, so I threw the shirt at him and beaned him in the back of the head. He turned around all pissed off, and the whole group of people around me (I was with one person, the rest were strangers) started yelling at him to sit the F*** down during the play. Surprisingly, he did sit down, right on the stairs. But now that I think about it, I was in the 200s. Either way, the point remains. And it's much, much worse up in the nosebleeds.
