Then she came up with some other fancy type of drinks that contained milk and I said "no, just a glass of milk. I bought a cookie and would like a glass of milk to go with it". After a few minutes she finally clued in and I got my milk.
Haha. That has got to be one of the most interesting things I have heard all day.

Someone ordering milk is the most interesting thing you have heard today? Are you a paint drying inspector or something?

The word "Hijinx" should be reserved for storiest more awesome than yours. I thought this was going to be about screaming over the paging system, or making a mess in the organic section.

If you want 200g, get 200g... if you want 300g, get 300g. You basically paid more for stuff you didn't want because you didn't man up and tell them you wanted less than they gave you. How much longer would the conversation have been?

"Can I have a little less?"
"Then you want a small?"
"Sure"
"OK... There you go... 200g"

Not that hard.

This reminds me of a story while at the new South Centre food court.

I think the Thai place in called Ruby Thai, anyways the food there is stellar.

There was this older Caucasian women who was in-front of me placing her order. After asking them if everything is hot, what is this chicken? What is this shrimp? Is this spicy, does it taste good? What is bang bang chicken? Is panang shrimp spicy and so on and so on...

They ask her if she would like a drink with her meal, she says "Do you have any milk?" The Thai girl just looks at her kinda stunned...

The old woman asks again "Do you have any Milk?" Again the girl looks at her and says "No, we not sell Milk"

The woman, "Oh okay, do you have chocolate Milk?"
The girl, "No Milk, we sell NO milk..."
The woman, "Oh okay, do you have coffee cream?"
The girl, "you want coffee?"
The Woman, "No I want lots of your cream and an empty cup"
The girl, "No Milk, you want pop?"
The woman, "I want lots of coffee cream, I'll buy the cream"
The girl, "No, we can't do that... people need cream for coffee"

After all this, the woman just said "okay I'll have an iced tea"

Mean while the and wife are laughing and trying so hard not to be loud and make a scene.

Keep in mind, this is a THAI fast food place, NOT Manchu Wok or Edo Japan.

After the woman pays for her meal, she asks "Can I have Teriyaki sauce?"
The girl, "No Teriyaki sauce"
The woman, "I'd like some Teriyaki sauce on my Chinese food"
The girl, "No Teriyaki sauce"
The woman, "How about some orange sweet and sour sauce"
The girl (looking very stunned and I generally feel bad for her) "ummm, let me check"
She then grabs a couple of those nasty orange packages of plum sauce and gives them to her.

The wife and I were laughing so hard, we both started crying as she walked away.

Maybe you had to be there... But it was so funny and we still bring it up whenever the topic of milk pops up.

Going to Starbucks for milk is like going to Edmonton for hockey.

It was to try to help her figure out that it was the type of milk that goes with cookies... not steamed milk, not triple soy low fat milkachino's, etc.

And besides who doesn't like milk with their cookies!

Yup... Then how about a hot chocolate? Pop? Ice Tea? Water?
Blended Juice? Regular Juice?

If you don't like coffee, why bother giving them your business?

It was summer and didn't want anything warm. I didn't see any bottled water and didn't want one of their overpriced brand name organic juice.

It tasted just like milk, I even refrained from dunking.

From what I recall it was around $1.50.

There are some excellent cold beverages at Starbucks that don't involve juice or bottled water.

There's one guy that works at the safeway deli by my house that is awesome. I always ask for 150 grams of my faveorite sandwich meat, and he just cuts and cuts and cuts and then randomly tosses it on the scale and it's always over, but he just punches in 150 grams and that's all I pay for.

It's not so much that I care about saving 50 cents, I care about not standing there all day while the deli worker slices one.more.piece to get to 150... Oh, it's only 147... One.more.piece... Oh, it's 153. "Is 153 grams ok sir?"

Maybe form now on I'll just tell them that I want anywhere from 125 to 175 grams.

I worked part time in a deli when I was in school and I don't know how he'd be able to do that unless he's taring it down to 150 grams.

For me anything other less then 20 grams over was fine. Hell, if my manager was pushing that sales were low, I'd make sure there was usually an extra slice over the asked for weight. But I really didn't give a crap what my customers thought since I was a rather surly deli clerk and most of them were really annoying.

Because I was so fascinated by his amazing generosity, I didn't really pay attention the first time. But the next time it happened, I watched. He cleared the scale, then he punched in a weight (150g), then the product code, and just printed the sticker. Must be some new-fangled scales at that deli that weren't in existence back in 1923 when you were in school.

A scale where you can input whatever weight you want? Sounds like a great money making opportunity if you can find enough fatties.

It was actually 1927 if you must know and my store had the best abacus in the neighbourhood for figuring out the final price!
