Ya that's a trade you make when you feel you're one piece away from a Super Bowl, not when you're coming off a 4-12 season. Al Davis doesn't even know where he is anymore.

On another note, the Pats now have another top 10 pick(maybe even top 5). It's amazing how they pull that off all the time. They basically just keep rebuilding off their aging players. Trade each star a year or two before he goes downhill, and parlay that into a high round draft pick. You gotta give them props for very shrewd management.

On the Merriman thing...

Its being suggested the women was extremely intoxicated and was attempting to drive from his home early in the morning and he was not letting her do so to the benefit of all other drivers on the road at that time.

if that's the case he may not even get charged as this was a warrant taken out by her and not a police decision to arrest him. Its up to the DA now if there is anything worth persuing as far as criminal charges. Its possible he doesnt miss a single day of work.

It sounds a lot more like:

Domestic violence: It's okay if a drunk chick is pissed that you didn't let her drive home and made stuff up.

Merrimen's denying he even touched her. She may have made the whole thing up in a rage. She is pretty crazy. I'm not saying that's what's happened or anything, just speculating it may all be one big story.

Ugh. I'm having trouble picking who to put money on this Thursday night. I like the Titans ground game a lot, but I'm not sure what their defense is going to look like without Haynesworth. I think the Titans have the better coach and I'm wondering how Roethlisberger is going to play after all of his offseason troubles. I'd have no problem throwing money on the Titans if this game was in Nashville.

My lock of the week is Minnesota -4.0 over Cleveland.

I'm so pumped for Thursday! The Titans Steelers game should be an awesome way to kick off the NFL season...although I am not looking forward to the apparent entertainment of Tim McGraw and the Black Eye Peas...

Titans and Steelers is tough to pick. One would think defending Superbowl champs at home would cover. But for Tennessee this is the AFC Championship game they didn't get last year and maybe a bit of a statement. Not to mention Tennesse going there last year and laying a beatdown on the Steelers. I'd go with the under but outside of that I would save my money to bet on some other matchups. Mind you anytime you think you have a beat em up knock em out low scoring close game, someone runs away with it and it ends up being a 38-24 game that no one saw coming.

That's the other thing that worries me about picking the Titans. The home team is 5-0 since the NFL adopted the current format of having the champions open at home on Thursday night.

And as far as I can remember everyone of the Thrusday games have been double digit wins for the home teams with the exception of the Giants winning by 9 last year.

Another thing that makes me hesitant to pick the Titans is how good the Steelers run defense can be especially at home. Kerry Collins Vs that defense I'll take the Steel Curtain every time

The Giants last year and the Patriots in 2004. The Patriots only won by 3 in 2004, but they also played the Colts.

More NFL previews:

NBC (Tom Curran):

Super Bowl XLIV: Patriots over Giants

http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/32611073/ns/sports-nfl/

ESPN, 44 Predictions (Gene Wojciechowski):

http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/colum...2&sportCat=nfl

43. Super Bowl XLIV
Minnesota vs. New England -- A sportswriter's dream.

44. And the winner is …
New England -- Gisele and Brazil rejoice.

TSN:

http://www.tsn.ca/nfl/story/?id=290358

TSN's Jesse Palmer and Chris Schultz had differing views on which teams would make the Super Bowl XLIV. Palmer gave the Steelers their props by picking them to face the Philadelphia Eagles. While Schultz has the Eagles as the NFC Champions, he thinks Tom Brady and the New England Patriots will win the AFC and then the Super Bowl.

Its sounds like Seymour has no plan to show up in Oakland at the moment. The Patriots made off like a bandit on this one. I wonder if Pioli is upset that he didn't get first dibs at another New England cast away?
