I actually just hope they recast the Joker. I wouldn't bet on it but I'm sure they're thinking about it.
Hush would also work pretty well too.
The key to a successful film is having a psychological connection between Batman and the enemy. That's why I don't really like the idea of the Riddler. He's pretty campy and not malicious enough. There needs to be that real feeling on dread and horror. That's why the Dark Knight worked so well. You only really capture that with a couple enemies.
Which is why I bet they're evaluating whether they'll recast Joker because he's perfect to create that fit.
Nolan made sure he didn't make Burton's mistake and kill Joker at the end of the movie. Well since TDK the dicotmy of Joker and Batman is over discussed by the "masses" (who can't begin to understand its importance in the Batman mythology) you are spot on in your assessment.

Can they recast Batman? Every time he talked, it was a howler.
When Kevin Conroy does it, it is genius. When Christian Bale does it in Batman Begins no one cares. However if Bale does it in one of the most popular and anticipated movies of the decade, it is too over the top? Give me a break.

To me she's too young and too clean cut looking. If your going to Nolanize catwoman, she has to have the look of a herpes riddled 42 year old prostitute with a big a$$ and a tattered outfit.
She thinks she's a cat because she referred to her female genitalia on "dates" to often and believed that she was was a cat when a rough trick named Jim dropped her out of the 8th story window of the Stampeder hotel on the rough east side of Gotham city.
She needs greasy blonde and grey hair, and pock marks on her face from various diseases and child hood acne, she needs to wear heavy lipsticks and mascara behind a mask thats more gimp then old style catwoman.
Oh and she needs a woman sidekick named miss kitty who's a repressed lesbian.
Or not repressed depending on the rating of the movie that they're going for.
So you're advocating Madonna for the role then? With Brittany Spears as Miss Kitty?

I think Nolan said the same thing once about the Riddler character. However, I don't see why The Riddler can't be written any way they want him to be. I'm playing the Arkham Asylum 360 game, and the Riddler sounds a little scarier than I've ever seen. You should hear his riddle about babies.
Maybe they should. Why do they need to keep making sequel after sequel? How many Batman movies have been made now? I think Nolan has integrity too, and I think it'll be a good attempt..but sometimes it seems that these huge movies get sequels just for the sake of making a sequel, because they know its a cash cow.
Why? Because of $$$
Money makes the world go round my friend. Sad, but always true.
I'd also be all for a re-casting to see what another actor can do with that character. And besides it's not as if it isn't consistent with the mythology of Batman. How many different Jokers have their been in the comics. Joker's had an origin story in the Killing Joke and then DC walked away from it and hinted at other sinister origins. Different writers and of course artists have different takes on the Joker as well.
Why can't you have a movie with another fine actor giving their impression of the iconic villain? The character itself is so lush and robust that it's almost a shame that someone else doesn't get a crack at it.
And besides, another Joker movie segways perfectly into other largely unexplored corners of the Batman universe like, most importantly, Arkham Asylum. (The first movie had it, but not nearly to the depth that Batman going to visit an imprisoned Joker would have).

I remember reading that Nolan didn't like Penguin, I'm not sure about Riddler. Either way, if Chris and Jonathan want to make it work they will. I just don't buy asking rumors when the movie hasn't even been announced or green lit or anything. You guys remember the Bob Hopkins as Penguin rumors? Or in Star Trek, Gary Sinese as McCoy? Exactly.

I actually think Ms. Fox is kinda trailer-trashy looking.
Who ever brought up Talia al Gul has my attention. She could be interesting. But considering that the Nolan Ra's al Gul didn't regard Batman as "the great detective" I fear the subtext might be lost in translation. Whoa, I'm like really nerding out on Batman right now.

A lot of people were bewildered and angered by Heath Ledger's casting in the Dark Knight.
Heath Ledger had proven his acting chops - he was fresh off an Oscar nomination (which by all accounts he almost won) when he was cast as the Joker.
Megan Fox is cute.
I don't think the two situations are comparable in any way whatsoever.

I'm not saying the movie is going to be for sh*t, but I hardly think Nolan is going to be able to tap some undiscovered potential in Megan Fox, so I don't think it's a stretch to argue this is a bit of a cash grab. Casting her in the role would be a convenient way to capitalize on her popularity with the franchise's core audience - teenage/twenty-something males.
All I'm saying is that up to this point he has struck me as a director who has been able to avoid succumbing to fanboy, mainstream audience, or studio pressures in his direction of the franchise, so a move like this I find to be a bit disappointing.
But once again, that doesn't mean it's going to be a bad movie.
I dont know about you guys, but after Ledgers transformation into the Joker, and the FANTASTIC work Nolan did on the first Batman to make Bale not annoying. I trust him to pick the next character and actor and make the story work. These new Batman movies are probably the best interpretations of a comic book movie I could ever imagine. I am a gigantic nerd, and its tough for me to admit that.
Although i am extremely annoyed at the guy that pointed out Meghan Foxs creepy thumbs, that is all i see when i look at her now!
Okay, seriously guys. Megan Fox isn't going to be Catwoman. You guys are talking like it is the gospel fact an have a call sheet for the move in your hands.
