I was so pissed off when he left the Chiefs and signed with the Broncos. Then he ended up being a bust as well as a coke head and it made me feel better. He was a great player in KC though.

AFC West fans - does any of the teams in this division going to have a decent defence?
I think the Chargers are supposed to be good, but how about everyone else?

The Chiefs managed zero sacks against the Vikings in their second pre-season game. Although did get 2 in their first game! I think they also only have two take away's so far. Combined with an anemic offence and being in a 3-4 scheme for the first year. I'd say stay the hell away from the Chiefs defence for fantasy.
Realistically if San Diego doesn't go 6-0 against the AFC West something went terribly wrong. Behind them I don't know if I see a team capable of winning 5 games, and thats getting the luxury of 4 games against other disabled teams.

Some info I got from another site I frequent:
Michael Vick to play the 4th quarter of the Eagles pre-season game on Thurs. Should be a scene.
Also, the Seahawks have released TJ Duckett to make room for Edge. And Ernest Wilford has gone back to Jacksonville after being cut by the Fins.

I think I trust Andy Reid more than your site.

Head coach Andy Reid confirmed in his morning press conference that Michael Vick will play on Thursday night against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The starters are penciled in to play the first three quarters, and Reid said that Vick will get his game action during that period. He made it clear that Vick may see some action at the same time as Donovan McNabb or with the first unit. Kevin Kolb will play the fourth quarter.

I don't know much about the Chiefs. The Broncos are improved but might be on the field more than they're used to if Orton is under center.
As for the Raiders (the team I'm most familiar with) - I think they have a lot of nice pieces, but that doesn't translate to great defense. The d-line is questionable. I like the LB-core. I think the secondary is going to be very good outside of the obvious (Asomough). Last year the secondary's big problem was run support, especially from their contact-fearing safeties. This year, hopefully, that will have been addressed.
My hope is 8-8. That division is pretty weak outside of San Diego... but frankly, the Chargers have been disappointing for years, so who knows.

Oh come on....the same thing will happen that happens every year since that Superbowl loss. They'll get destroyed at home on Monday night when their offence does absolutely nothing. By week 3 the coaches will be fighting each other and Al Davis will fire the guy with cause. The new guy will come in, reign in the gong show and have them looking like they could be turning things around near the end of the season when they score a couple upsets and finish 4-12. They'll draft an athlete that Davis loves with that good draft pick...and start over again.

Huh? "Every year" sounds only like "last year." Gruden was essentially traded pre-2002, Callahan was fired at the end of the season, Norv Turner was fired at the end of the season, Art Shell was fired after the season.
I'm not defending Al Davis and the debacle the Raiders have been since 2002. I was simply commenting on the Raiders defense - they have some decent players (LBs, CB), some significant holes (DL) and hopefully their secondary will be more physical against the run this year.
EDIT: If your comment was in reference to my hope that the team goes 8-8, I don't think it's so unlikely. There are some soft teams on Oakland's schedule - KC (2), Denver (2), Houston, NYJ, Bengals, Browns. They won't win them all, but who knows, the Raiders did beat the Jets in the middle of the Jets' 8-3 start last season.

The Raiders are worse than all of those teams except for maybe the Browns and the Chiefs.

The Bengals are going to be bad. Denver has Kyle Orton throwing up ducks. NYJ are going to go through growing pains with Sanchez. Houston is probably better than the Raiders, but are definitely in the range of being beatable.
I'm not ranking the Raiders ahead of any of those teams, I meant that those teams are pretty bad and are "beatable" for the Raiders and are on the same general plane as the Raiders. Could the Raiders lose the majority of those games? Yes. I also believe they could win the majority too.

My comments are partly in jest. The Raiders under Lane Kiffen looked to have things going the right way towards the end of his first season. They than came out and got crushed on Monday night. Last year they were showing signs of being a better team, and than in camp you have coaches fighting. Plus they once again are opening the season at home against San Diego.
So can you see why I might think the same thing could happen again?
Didn't think you'd be so sensitive about it. I'd have though Raider fans would be used to being laughed at by now.
I'm a Chiefs fan...I'm used to being the brunt of everyones joke by now.

That trend isn't all that uncommon across sports. Teams that have nothing to lose play looser, try younger players at regular spots which results in better performance (younger player trying to impress), weed out locker room problems by releasing/trading malcontents, etc... The Oilers have been doing this for the better part of a decade.
I could see the Raiders falling on their face to start the season... especially against the Chargers. If, however, the Raiders can recover against the Chiefs and Broncos, they might be able to have their first 6 win season since 2002! I'm aiming for 8-8. Realistic? Not really. But I've been through 6 seasons of top 5-10 draft picks... I need something else to hope for.

I think Denver will be much improved, but that doesn't mean they'll be decent. Oakland was decent last year and will be again this year I think. I think the Chargers are a bit overrated on defense.

I think the Raiders with Jeff Garcia and a lot of luck could get to 7-8 wins.
The Raiders with Russell as QB all season is likely a 4 win team.
