Square Enix has given a vague release of Winter 2009 for the Japanese version for the PS3. For North America a release date would likely come in 2010 simultaneously on the Xbox 360 and the PS3.

I've had both systems. PS3 was better for overall entertainment, Xbox is better for overall gaming.
PS3 is a better system, there's no doubt about that. I just wish it wasn't Sony. I don't know how to explain it, but it just didn't feel like a gaming system. Very convoluted experience.
Xbox doesn't try to hide what it is or be something else. It's just video games and lots of them.

Doesn't make sense...HD DVD player, video market place, pc media streaming etc. What they both offer is pretty much the same for non gaming entertainment.

Really? I find Xbox to be such a gimmicky system. Avatars, Netflix, soon to be FACEBOOK and TWITTER integration (######ed).
Sony I find to have better games and more original IPs as opposed to what the 360 offers. Uncharted and The Lost Guardian offer way more then the typical "SPACE SHOOTER" that Microsoft pumps out. Not to mention, the PSN used actual cash instead of "points" right from the get go, and has a much cleaner store interface.

I love how they make it sound like this stand is necessary for making your PS3 stand vertically. I wouldn't be surprised if the PS4 is oval shaped making the PS4 stand a necessity.

I own an Xbox, but you gotta hand it to Sony. Their slimmed down models are impressive. And at that pricepoint its hard not to be interested.

I bought my PS3 new a year ago from a Futureshop clearance sale for $300. So I don't feel too bothered by this.
Hopefully, the Slim is quieter. My PS3 seems to like imitating a wind tunnel!

there will be 3 games released called FFXIII in one way or another
theres the regular FFXIII which will be released on PS3/xbox360
then theres FF versus XIII which is a PS3 exclusive (or atleast for now until MS drives another dump truck full of money to the squeenix)
and then there FF agito XIII which will be a PSP game

FF13 is coming out for the 360 as well as the PS3. The last bastion of PS3ness fell with that news, imo. EB Games has the release date as June 21st, 2010. I don't know how much stock we can put in that though.

Aside from a hot summer day, mine is very quiet. When I had an xbox plugged right in next to it, it was noticeble and bothersome.
I have never found that with my playstation.

I'm a bit disappointed in Sony's design house, that is one ugly system for the slim version which is usually a very tight and streamlined and beautifully designed machine for the PS1 and PS2 iterations.
It looks like a plastic knock-off system.
