The only nightmare that I ever remember having was some old Lady kidnapped me and my family, and long story short, she tried to eat us but her boogers were falling everywhere so she couldn't. Don't ask me how this could be considered scary or a nightmare but it was.

Also I dreamt Stuart Little 2 two years before it came out.

I dreamt Harry Potter 7 years before that bitch Rowling put it out. Damn Brits and their unlimited access to my psyche.

LOL, but I'm not kidding!

I remember seeing Stuart Little fly in some stupid yellow airplane, and then going along with my business. And then one day I watched the movie, and was like "I've seen this", but it had just come out. Scary Sh*t

I just told my boys the next time they were having a nightmare to imagine they grew really large and ate the monster. Monsters taste like strawberries.

Thats a concious thought, not sure you can do that. Though, there have been times I'm in the middle of a nightmare and my concious mind kicks in and I realize its a dream but I can't wake up... I don't know if this makes any sense at all, but I sort of just take myself away from the dream (like 1st person storytelling to 3rd person) to figure out how I got to that point.

Does anyone else have moments where they're asleep and can't open their eyes, but they know that they're sleeping, so you're kind of awake except you can't move anything or open your eyes?

I'm not sure if children dream differently than adults or not but, it did work for them. If you remember your nightmares try to visualize the ending you want before you go to sleep. Remember you are not confined by natural laws when you are dreaming. You can defeat them in all sorts of fanciful ways. You've got the power.

Honestly, it's cheesy but look it up on the dream dictionaries on line. It'll get your mind stirring enough to think about what it's thinking about (make sense?). It could trigger something in a weird enough way that it rattles it loose. I've had recurring negative dreams for YEARS and it's exhausting. They say it's the minds way of dealing with the days activities, and to deal with what the conscious can't. But what seems like a logical connection in reality could be really different in dream life. Ex. dreaming of water indicates sexuality, can go any which way, depending on the dream.

Corpse

To see a corpse in your dream, represents an aspect of yourself that has died. Or it may mean that you are unexpressive. You have shut yourself down and are dead inside.

Zombie

To see or dream that you are a zombie, suggests that you are physically and/or emotionally detached from people and situations that are currently surrounding you. You are feeling out of touch. Alternatively, it may indicate that you are feeling dead inside and are simply going through the motions of daily living

To dream that you are attacked by zombies, indicates that you are feeling overwhelmed by forces beyond your control. You are under tremendous stress in your waking life.

Dunno if I agree DOK, but I like that you bring an different prospective. I guess unlike you, I don't see dreams as some sort of symbol of something, like corpse is a symbol of death. I always thought dreams were sort of taking a random thought (however deeply buried in the unconscious) and your brain goes from there, in whatever and whiever direction its free to go since the conscious mind doesn't impeded it from reality or logic.

When I was young, I had a recurring dream (to me, it was a nightmare but in retrospect it's actually hilarious). It had to do with the Cheetos mascot and that commercial with Paula Abdul where they're like dancing on a balcony or something.

One way that might be helpful to you is to research and practice trying to attain lucidity in dreams (where you become aware that you are dreaming, yet stay in the dream).

This happens very naturally for some people, and with great difficulty for others (like me).

The thing with lucid dreaming is this: when you become aware inside your dream, and with the right amount of practice (which might be a LOT but is still possible), you will be able to control everything in your dream. Your surroundings, the situations, the people/figures/characters, your mood. The outcome, basically.

This might be the only way to beat the nightmares if they've gotten to this point.

OP, do you have much experience or knowledge of lucid dreaming?

Personally I've become lucid in a dream maybe 5 or 6 times in my life. Once inside I've just tried to have as much fun as possible. But I have heard of it being used to stop nightmares.

Here's a link to an interesting website/message board.

Because it's a messageboard, you have to take everything with a grain of salt, but there are some very useful tutorials & links to explore should you choose to try this route.

Are you religious at all? My mom used to tell me to pray to St. Michael. Ask him to let you sleep and protect you. If they are real demons, they should eff right off.

When I moved into my new house I had nightmares every night for about a month, until I switched from the bedroom upstairs to the one on the main floor.

One night I had a dream that I was trapped under the chaf spreader of a combine, and when I finally woke up I was standing on my bed directly underneath my ceiling fan. Good thing I'm not 6 inches taller!
