What size did you get? I've been trying to get a 32GB version and they've been sold out for the past two weeks. I think there are 16GBs available.

I read somewhere that one of the reasons for the shortage of 3GS models, is they shipped 10,000 phones just to some of the Fortune 500 companies alone.
Edit: Found it.

The company said almost 20 percent of Fortune 500 companies have bought at least 10,000 iPhones, and it is currently unable to make enough iPhone 3GSs to meet a demand -- a problem Apple is working to address.

The confusing thing is this can be interpreted two different ways: 20% of the F500 combined to buy 10K units... or 20% of the F500 bought 10K each... The former is probably more likely, but they did sell 1 million phones in the first 3 days of sale... so...
I'm just not sure if 100 companies (20%) buying 10,000 units each makes a lot of sense... then again, 100 companies buying 100 units each doesn't seem like a whole lot either.

Anyone having issues with the 3g network today/yesterday? Sometimes it works great for me, other times it can't connect. Pretty frustrating.

So does anyone know when the next iPhone post 3Gs is supposed to hit? I'm looking at upgrading but I'm thinking I might want to wait.

no one knows... but it seems their annual refresh for the iphone is june/july so you'll probably be waiting about a year.

I've never had any downtime at all in a year. Well maybe I have but it's never lasted more than a few minutes.

I read here that they were going to upgrade from 7.5mbs to 21mbs, I wonder if thats the cause for the poor performance the last couple of days?
http://9to5mac.com/rogers-21mbs
Edit: nevermind, starting in T-dot in August...

My iPhone was crapping out on me quite a bit yesterday on any web apps, but it seems to be fine today. (knock on wood)

Yeah, and for everyone who bought the 3G when it first came it, too bad because the cutoff date has passed, and Apple isn't making exceptions.
For a company built on service and "it just works", they sure can be bad at both those things.

Seriously, Apple is getting worse than Microsoft ever was.
Not only do they arbitrarily pull approved apps off the app store without telling the developers why, now they're expecting developers to refund people out of their own pockets.
Step 1. Approve app.
Step 2. Collect 30% of tons of sales
Step 3. Yank app.
Step 4. Have developer do refunds, keep 30%
Step 5. Profit!!!
Seriously, if I was a company making a seriously useful application I would just give up and move to a different platform, knowing what you can and cannot do is impossible, there are no guidelines, no rules, and no consistency. No word from Apple as to what you can and can't do, what will get you yanked, or even if you get approved they can come back moths later and change their mind. It boils down to releasing an app and rolling the dice to see if you get to stick around or not.
So good useful apps are doomed, while stupid useless toys apps will continue to proliferate.

Seems that Apple is content on keeping the iPhone as a neato piece of tech and not unlocking its true potential.

Sure seems that way some days. It's too bad really. I hate it when a company gets too big and too powerful for their own good.
I really like my iPhone, but I will get another device when this contract is up if stuff like this continues.
Those Palm Pre's look really cool...unfortunately exclusive to Bell and I will not give another cent to that company (speaking of companies too big for their own good).

Yeah, but if you did get a Palm Pre your still entitled to use iTunes. Because Palm is too lazy to write their own program.

Can't you just browse the Palm Pre like any other smartphone though and load things the way you want? I did this with my HTC Touch before I got an iPhone. Much preferred that way as I really don't like iTunes or the whole iTunes interface.
