So do you hold it with the skinny end or the fat end? Looks like you hole the fat end and a quick snap of the wrist deploys it. I'm not sold on what the skinny end is going to do to John Q. Intruder, but I'd sure enjoy smacking around a few of my friends with that thing.

Trust me when I say this, if you hit a person across the face with one of these he's probably getting his skull wired together is a prison surgery.

These things are far more effective and a lot less cumbersome then the old police batons.

Personally I tend to fall back to the old board with a nail in it. My only concern is that someone breaks into my house with a bigger board with a bigger nail in it. Soon enough someone will invent a board with a nail in it so large that it will destroy the world.

How does pepper spray (or bear spray), rank in terms of defense against home intruders?

Criminals should be subject to batting practice.
Okey-doke. The guy who had the baseball bat has been charged with a crime, so I guess he's next. Who gets to wail on him?

After reading that story even I think that's crazily excessive. He might be a local hero to some, but I'm thinking anger control issues at this point. You catch someone and put him down, to me that's ok. You beat him into a sticky paste and you have a problem.

Its like the old self defense line when a man shoots a burgler with his pistol and tells the judge

"I was afraid for my life so I shot him 97 times"

Terrible, shouldnt be used indoors. (bear spray)

I was at a party and someone found a can of bear spray, and shot it off in the house, and EVERYONE was choking on the stuff. We all had to go outside while the house aired out. If I shot it at an intruder, I would be taking my wife and kids outside to get some fresh air after

You have no real control over pepper spray or squeezable tear gas or any of those other spray deterrents. It effects everyone in an enclosed room even the person that used it.

You might as well drop a stun grenade in the room and hope that you regain consciousness first.

It works great for getting your highschool closed for a day or so.

Someone needs to create a spray version of a roofie. Some criminal breaks into your house and you hit him with it. The next time he wakes up he's in Banff getting sodomized by a grizzly bear.

I wasn't talking about murder, I was talking about theft, B&E, etc.
Murder can and will be performed regardless of the presence of guns.

I was just trying to point out that if a thief KNOWS that most citizens do not have firearms(like in Canada), it makes crime/theft alot easier as opposed to not knowing who has firearms. There is obviously a greater risk for the criminal to break and enter in Texas than in Canada.

So therefore murder is irrelevant to whether or not people should have guns in the house? Because you weren't talking about it?

So all else being equal...B&E should be significantly lower in states with more guns right?

Search for ADT (or your security system of choice) images.

Print off the picture on heavy card stock and attach it to a piece of coreplast, and plant it in your front window. Add a stick and put it outside by your house if you want.

Next buy some sticker paper and print off some ADT stickers for your windows.

Or, if you're lazy, just get a set from ebay.

Like a club for your car, security signs make a would be thief move on to the next unprotected house.
