New alexisonfire is out June 23. "Old Crows/Young Cardinals"

I know alexisonfire isn't for everyone, but I really like their last two albums.

I swear I'm the most random music listener sometimes..

Two tracks are on the myspace page for the band. Not sure what I think yet, George has changed his screaming style and I don't know if I like it.

Alice In Chains' Black Gives Way To Blue Due out September 29th. The most anticipated CD release (for me) in years and years.

I have heard a 30 second clip of one song and it was pure Alice.

Has anyone picked up the new Depeche Mode? Solid?

I've taken a liking to Wrong, which is the third track I believe. Fantastic video.

A couple that I'm really looking forward too:

Engineers: Their second album (Three Fact Fader) comes out July 6th. Easily my favorite British band of the last few years, though due to problems with their label, it seemed like it took forever for this album to progress towards being released. Psychedelic shoegazing rock with fantastic production values.

Joe Henry: Underrated American artist who, in my mind belongs alongside Tom Waits and Bob Dylan as the best singer/songwriters currently recording: his catalog over the last decade has produced about six supurb albums, and he always got great collaborators: the upcoming album (Blood from Stars, August 16) boasts Marc Ribot and Jason Moran, and promises a bluesier direction. He's had a great year, as he's already produced three critically acclaimed albums (Allan Toussaint, Ramblin' Jack Elliott, Madeleine Peyroux), and I have high hopes for Blood from Stars.

(LOS ANGELES, CA – May 1, 2009) – This year marks the 25th anniversary of the cult classic film "This is Spinal Tap" and now England's Loudest Heavy Metal Band, SPINAL TAP, is celebrating with the release of their first new album in almost two decades, Back From The Dead (The Label Industry Records/Artist2Market/INgrooves). Street date is Tuesday, June 16, 2009. SPINAL TAP's last album was 1992's Break Like The Wind.

On Back From the Dead, Tap members David St. Hubbins, Nigel Tufnel and Derek Smalls unearth their long-self-suppressed studio versions of the classic songs from the movie "This is Spinal Tap," as well as six new additional songs, and an exclusive hour long accompanying DVD featuring a track-by-track video commentary by the band. Back From The Dead also features guest appearances by Phil Collen, Keith Emerson, John Mayer and Steve Vai. "This album title says it all. We're back from the dead. But we weren't dead. But we definitely are back," proclaimed Hubbins.

Back From The Dead is a deluxe CD/DVD package aggressively priced and containing 19 original Spinal Tap songs, a one-hour DVD and unique pop-up diorama package that unveils three 12-inch action figures (courtesy of Sideshow Collectibles) of the band along with a proportionally sized Stonehenge. Back From The Dead is destined to be a collector's item, especially among collectors.

The Mars Volta are back!

And by back, I mean.....LAID BACK.
New album, Octahedron, is very slow-motion compared to their last 2-3 albums (mind you I'm only halfway through the first listen).

Interesting, to say the least. The closest they'll come to an acoustic record. Definitely worth checking out if you were among those who found Amputechture and The Bedlam in Goliath a bit too out there.

edit: just as I post this a quiet song fades out and the next track starts so loud and fast and suddenly I damn near poop my pants.

I know I posted on this before, but I've really been into this album lately. Anyone who is even remotely a hip hop fan has to pick up P.O.S. newest album Never Better. The guy is amazing. I've read review where they've tried to classify it as a fusion of rock and hip hop, but that's only because he also has a punk band (Building Better Bombs). Anyone tired of Lil Wayne radio crap has to check it out. A couple videos from his newest album:

Goodbye

Optimist (We aren't for them) One NSFW word btw, and one of my favourite songs ever.

Maybe I just relate, but this guy is amazing. Plus this last album came out on my birthday.

For the record I hated Rage. Couldn't stand Zach. But The Coup is one of the best hip hop groups ever, and I think that's a decent song. Will be picking up the album soon, it came out June 16th.

I'm biased (since they've been one of my favorite bands for the longest time)... but this is probably the best piece of music they've put out since Clumsy. Of course, the single they released is absolute garbage again... but the rest of the album is 10 times better than anything they've put out since 1999. Amazing what getting rid of Bob Rock can do for a band.

For any hip-hop heads out there.. some of the tracks from the new Roots album leaked... good stuff.
