I think the reason I find this so hilarious is because of the way I was raised. I've hunted, killed my food, I've slaughtered cattle and chicken, skinned deer and yes *gasp* shot about a thousand or so gophers because it was fun. I spent my childhood hunting, camping and killing, and I loved every second of it.
That said, I just don't get the people who jump up and down about the inhumane slaughter of animals (especially the tasty ones), wear hemp shoes, and more often than not look down at carnivores like me because I just clubbed a 5 lb trout that I intend to grill for dinner. But whatever, I don't really care. It's justified in my mind and they're not going to change it.
Now excuse me as I plan my dinner, which consists of one very large steak from a steer that was raised, slaughtered and quartered on the family farm, and sent to the local butcher shop in Okotoks to be wrapped.

Take a look at the panda (order carnivora) and the mess it's got itself into by being a fussy eater. Sooner it goes extinct and gets the Darwin award for animals the better.
Life is life. No? Is it the lack of a nervous system that differentiates it?
|
Yeah, the Panda is almost extinct because of it's diet, not the fact that is was so poached for it's fur. Do your research!

I was under the impression that 90% of the seals killed were by rifle and that the hunt is supervised to ensure that it is humane

Do you think that all slaughter houses are like your video?
Some of that video looked about 20-30 years old.

Yup, that's exactly what I've been trying to get at.
I've had more than a few discussions with them, and they are usually the most annoying people in the world, becuase they usually have such contradictory reasons for why they are vegans.
The only exception is my brother in law's best friend. He's a vegan, and when you talk to him he can have a reasonable discussion about it. He dosn't make arguements like "why test on animals when we can test on death row inmates instead".

Not many seal skin hats here. Mitts and clothing, like jackets and pants, are more common.

A majority of seals are now shot instead of clubbed.
How fast do you want it to be ????

Yup, not reasonable to think it's wrong to test on murderers instead of innocent animals. I wonder if some guy gunned down your child if you would feel the same? Whatever, done with this thread, to many humans are superior to everything and therefore I can play god attitude for me.

The vast majority of posts are people asking legitimate questions, trying to understand your position, and you getting in a huff about it.

It is a shame that you claim you are leaving the thread, because I am being very much entertained by all of the false dilemmas you are creating.

I think this thread has been relatively tame for 6 pages given the topic..........

I haven't been trying to bait you, I'm jus trying to make a point about your argument that all living things are equal.
Assuming we can agree that plants don't apply, the difference between you and me isn't that one of us belives that all things are equal and the other doesn't, but where we draw the line.
Unless of course you don't even swat mosquitos.
I draw the line at things thare are delicious, or are a nuissance to me, but that can't talk.
I'll gladly swat a mosquito, or shoot a deer, but i'm not going to shoot a coyote because it isn't bothing me any. And I won't do tests on inmates because I don't think torturing people is right.
You apparently draw the line at things that are cute, up to, but not including death row inmates.
At least my stance isn't riddled with exceptions.

Serious question: Do vegans take medication?
Given that the primary stages involves testing on animals.
What do they do when they get ill?

maybe that is the beauty of their lifestyle...they don't get ill......'cause not eating meat is not a positive of it.

Just like you did when you suggested the Newfies were the reason behind N. Atlantic cod depletion.
Anyway ... Back at ya. Poaching is NOT the primary reason the panda is threatened.
