I asked this in another thread, just wanted to see if there was something to it:
Is there something wrong with Chinook Park and Lloyd's? My best childhood memories were there, and I thought it was a nice place

Lloyd's was fun as a child, but there's just something about roller skating in circles to the sound of 80's music that loses its charm really quickly. Not to mention I've heard tales of scuzzy guys hanging out there to watch girls skating. Oh, and the floor of the games area is really dirty. The whole place is a throwback, and not necessarily in a good way.

Why do we pronounce 21st century years like this: two thousand nine, rather than twenty oh nine, like we did in the 20th century?
This picks my butt. I want it to change.
No other reason than it just sounds better. Actually saying one thousand nine hundred and nine is a lot. But saying two thousand and nine is pretty easy.
At the same time twenty oh nine sounds kind of awkward and stupid to me.
One thing I'm still on the fence about is the whole twenty ten thing. That definitely sounds awkward to me. Two thousand ten sounds better IMO. Gets even worse with anything with two 20s. Like twenty twenty five. And yet twenty fifty sounds ok.
