Hey President Obama, the campaign is over - forget the popularity contest

Obama was the candidate of the modern world, the first presidential candidate to see the possibilities of the Internet, not just for raising vulgar amounts of money, but for instant access to the voters as well. In many ways, he is the first President of the BlackBerry world.
And even though it is too early to make lasting judgments about anything with him, on the mess he's inherited with the economy or anything else, you do want him to shut the BlackBerry off once in a while. Mostly you want him to stop acting as if he's still running for something, not just playing to the crowd but trying to please everybody in it.

I haven't noticed anybody "waiting" at all, honestly. This rush to judgement on Obama makes the war in Iraq look measured and responsible.

I'd say that his foreign policy shows a lot of promise as being a direct about face on the previous 8 years. That said, his dealings with China have probably been to hawkish, given the importance of Chimerica and he has flip-flopped around the Iraq issue.

His domestic policy has been just two shades above awful. The bailout is a disaster.

We'll see. Actually, I'm not too partisan and I didn't care much for McCain, maybe I'm just free enough to not fall for Obama's often low populist appeal. The guy needs to be judged like everyone else. The apologists are just starting to look pathetic.

It's true, the apologists need to let up a bit, but they also have the problem that he's 2 months into a presidency and there are a bazillion people riding on his failure.

Seriously, after the job Bush did for the past 8 years, anyone who is not a complete moron would do a better job.

Obama has had more problems to deal with than any other president at the beginning of his term. FDR is close, but he didn't have two wars to deal with at the same time in addition to all the other problems.

When you are stretched thin as Obama is, mistakes will happen, hopefully none of them are catastropically bad, and America recovers from the damage that Bush inflicted.

Do you mean that the internet may actually polarize debate, much as it does on message boards, where people hide behind their anonymity and abandon any effort at civil discourse and instead spend their time flaming people who feel differently from them?
