because if there is one place in the world that someone is likely to try such a stupid quest...it's Vegas.

Pretty much any of the big resorts on the strip would be good enough. You'll be spoiled with Wynn being the 1st place you stay in Vegas.
The first time I went I wasn't really all that excited to go. I was excited to get away with my wife and my best friend, but I didn't think Vegas was going to be the place for me. Let me tell you something. I'm now a Vegas junky. I love Vegas! I don't even gamble much. I just play (or pay) the penny slots. Actually the first time I went my wife and I planned to spend $100/day gambling, and we probably spent $100 total. We had beginners luck and actually came back with an extra $40 from our gambling budget (though we did dip into that for some souvenirs).
I came back from Vegas, wanting to go right back to Vegas. I found a bunch of websites and learned all I could about Vegas, from its history to what is happening, to discussing Vegas on forums dedicated to talking about Vegas.

In-N-Out Burger is an absolute MUST! It may be behind NYNY, but you have to cross the street to Excalibur to use that sidewalk to cross the freeway (and then cross back over the street) get to In-N-Out Burger.

We are thinking of staying at The Palazzo Resort at Venetian...do I understand correctly that this is the new tower?
Not only does the price seem good but we can get the following by staying there:
Value-Add Promotion
Book a stay for travel February 1 - June 30, 2009 and receive the following:
US$50 slot credit to use at resort casino
US$25 beverage credit to use at Lavo
Special $36 pre-fixed dinner menu at Lavo
20-percent off at Pinot Brasserie
Two-for-one gondola ride
US$6 discount at Madame Tussauds
Thoughts?

When it comes to dining in Vegas, it's a good idea to say what price range you're looking for.

Vegas has more than its fair share of expensive restaurants, but you can find some good inexpensive places to eat.
I love to go to NYNY, they've got Pizza and hot dogs, and hamburgers and a Deli, each in their own little shops for cheap prices. Sirrico's pizza is legendary! The deli is quite good too.
Another place I like to eat at is Cheesburger Paradise in the Miracle Mile shops.
If you are a drinker and you like margaritas then get a Margarita by the yard (the big 3 foot drink that another poster alluded to). The cheapest place I've found them was at Gonzalez Y Gonzalez in NYNY, and they were also the most potent.

I'd say go for it. Palazzo is their new tower, and with any new tower in Vegas they'll want to impress you so it'll be a nice stay. If you think the price is reasonable for you then do it!

Depending on the cost of the flight and the room, it sounds like it isn't too bad. Could probably do better but its still a good price.
The dates make a difference as prices rise and fall due to event in town. Here is a link to rates for today (just a one night stay): Palazzo rates

4 nights starting the 19th of June at Palazzo. Depends on what kind of room you get and how much your flights are. There is a luxury room that is good pricing, it just doesn't have a view of the strip.

If anyone wants to go to vegas with a great deal. Drive 4 hrs south, to Great Fall and fly with Allegiant Air.
http://www.allegiantair.com/aaIndex.php
They have the best prices going.
Ex:
Wynn: June 18 - 21/$420
Venitian: June 18-21/$494
Mandalya Bay: June 18 - 21/$355
Just as an example. No huge taxes or fee's, and alot of the packages they have include shows or credits.
As for the Trump Hotel - It is on the strip - in fact, the Wynn is right across the street.

Right across the street from Wynn is the Fashion Show Mall.
Las Vegas Blvd is the strip. Trump sits on W Fashion Show Drive, a little closer to Industrial Road than it is to Las Vegas Blvd.
This maps gives you a good representation of where Trump Tower is:

oh man, that's pretty nit picky but it's considered on the strip. I'm sorry if it 100 meters away. The fashion mall isn't the only thing across from the Wynn. That would be the Plaza and Trump Towers.
At anyrate, Allegiant Air is the way to go.

Skip 'em both and stay at Bellagio. Awesome hotel and the best location on the strip.

So I'm going to Vegas for the May long with some firends, and some hotels have some good prices but others are ridiculous. Mandalay Bay (where I usually stay) is charging 260 US a night that weekend. Is there something going on in Vegas i'm not aware of?
Anyways, do you guys think it's worth my time to call the hotel and say "Look I need 4 rooms, but there's no way in hell i'm paying $260 a night"? The MGM grand is only $150 those nights so I'll stay there if I have to. I just figured with Vegas being in the crapper (much like the rest of the US) they may be willing to negotiate.

UFC 98 is on May 23rd at MGM Grand, maybe that is causing the price inflation. Don't know whether I want Lesnar or Mir to win.
