Yeah, I thought they were talking about Michael Lombardi of NFL Network. I have no idea who this other guy is. Suppose I should read the article first next time.

If Denver doesn't want Cutler, or Cutler doesn't want to be in DEN now, Seattle would gladly step up and offer one (or both) of thier QB's in exchange.
Also...Warner to visit the 49'ers is the rumor. Martz is there so that makes some sense if ARI (rightly so) isn't opening the vault for him.

Martz is not in SF anymore Singletary let him go or was that just a rumor (too lazy to look).

Just watched the Dawkins press conference. Really reinforces my belief that this is the best Broncos UFA signing in a long, long time. Very happy about it!

Just watched a Schefter interview with McDaniels that took place 8 days ago and they talked extensively about Cutler. Didn't get the feeling, at all, that McDaniels wanted to go another direction.
I feel better today.

Singletary cut Martz loose. He wants a power run offense, not a pass happy offense.
49ers would take Warrener for a couple years to tutor a replacement, but I'm not sure how that coincides with the, "4 yards and a cloud of dust" offense Singletary wants.

I think Warner would retire before he signs with the Niners. Go from a Super Bowl runner-up with a good line and the best receiver in the league to a team in the mid-stages of a rebuild? Doesn't make a lot of sense unless he's just in it for the money.

And I can't really see it. I'd be more apt to see Garcia come back for his swan song.
And Lions DE Corey Smith is missing in a boating misshap.
Quote:
Detroit Lions spokesman Bill Keenist said he had heard that Lions defensive end Corey Smith was aboard a missing boat, but hadn't been able to confirm it.

Raiders LB Marquis Cooper is the boat's owner and is also missing, along with two former USF football players.
Hope they turn out to be ok somehow.

DFF - Cutler refuses to meet with Bronco officials after hearing about trade rumors.
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3944555
Hopefully, for you, this gets mended quickly. Just unnecessary IMO. Cassel is not an upgrade. Broncos deserve a headache because of this.

Eventually, he's going to have to make an effort to move past it.
That said, this whole scenario is a great argument against hiring inexperienced head coaches and general managers. I was all for the hiring of McDaniels, but what he has shown the last few days has really changed my outlook on him. Now it's wait and see.
If you don't want to trade Jay Cutler, you don't even take the calls on him. You tell your counterparts he's not available. If you do want to trade him you certainly don't do so because the great Matt Cassell is available.
Either way, McDaniels looks like a very green idiot right now in the eyes of most Broncos fans. I think Bowlen needs to address it publicly myself. Would be nice if Shanahan gave Jay a call and told him to chill out too.
Do they really think Brian Dawkins comes to Denver regardless of who is running the offense? Just laughable.

Nice pickup for SEA, and filling a hole on the DL by signing DT Colin Cole away from the Packers for a fair chunk of change. Certianly fills a hole there.
Houshmanzadeh is supposed to make a decision tomorrow...if he signs SEA's way (hope so, its a tough call but I'lll take a proven WR over a potential star WR in drafting Crabtree), would be interesting to see what
SEA does in the draft...maybe a move down from #4 and get some offensivel line help, with the DL and WR holes somewhat filled prior to April.

Evidently the Broncos have signed Miami CB Andre Goodman, who kicked our ass in the game against the Dolphins this past season.

Great talent....boneheaded person.
I wonder what it is with football players versus other sports....just an unreal amount of idiotism with them vs even basketballers. Weird.

Chris Mortenson was just on with M&M in the morning and stated he talked to Jay cutler last night. Cutler was pretty adamant that he was not going to go in and meet with McDaniels this week as was planned (to go over the new playbook).
Now I get that cutler is a bit pissed...no one wants to hear that they are not necessarily wanted, but he has to grow up over this. Who is he helping by refusing to meet with his new boss?? Not his boss....not his teammates...not the Bronco fans...and certainly not himself.
Silliness IMO...but this what you get with young guys who have been coddled and treated as special than others their entire adult lives.

It might have been a mistake on McDaniels part, but god is Jay Cutler a whiny b or what? He gets millions of dollars to play a game. He is a good qb, still hasn't convinced me he's great, and he's got a great offense around him. Why screw it up? Right now to me he's looking like the next Jeff George and not the next Elway.

Who would have thought that Matt Cassel would be the huge story and major trade bait of the weekend? I have to say I am absolutely disgusted by the move for Cassel made by the Chiefs. I was hoping Pioli would want to start a new in KC and make a name for himself on his terms. Looks like all he can do is try to copy his mentor, who is just going to bend him over every chance he gets. If Cassel couldn't get the Patriots to the playoffs with a super soft schedule? How the heck is he going to get the 2-14 Chiefs to the playoffs? I think Pioli needs to realize that a fluk out like Tom Brady only happens once in a generation. Does he actually think that the selection of Tom Brady in the 7th round was a smart move by himself and Belichek? It was a total fluk, and to think that he thinks that Cassel is another 7th round QB gem HOFer in the waiting is laughable. I really hope I'm wrong, but to me it looks like the Chiefs are setting themselves for a decade of failure. A questionable coaching hire and now blowing the 34th pick overall on a backup QB who wants to be paid like a top 5 QB. Great move Scott.

Peter King reporting the Cutler asked for a trade even before all this bruhaha occurred.
Quote:
I heard one other interesting thing Sunday: Cutler asked for a trade shortly after the Broncos lost offensive coordinator Jeremy Bates -- Cutler's confidant -- to USC after the season.
|
So if he asked for a trade back then, why is he crying about being mentioned in a trade?

Because it was for a backup? A Bronco fan called into Sirius this morning and said "Culter has proven himself as an NFL QB. McDaniels has to yet to prove himself as a head coach in the NFL".
This Patriot arrogance seems to be rubbing everyone the wrong way outside of New England.
