That's my question. Evidently Scheffler, you know that extremely disappointing TE is on the block too. If they were really trying to swap Cutler for Cassell there is no other explanation than my previous post.
I would stop watching. I'm not kidding.

Adam Schefter reporting that they were approached with the deal, Denver was not the one seeking the trade. I'll try to find a link.
linky: http://blogs.nfl.com/category/adam-schefter/
Quote:
Tampa approached Denver to try to make a three-way trade that would have sent Cassel to the Broncos and quarterback Jay Cutler to the Buccaneers. The Broncos entertained the notion and pondered it but ultimately decided against it.
Also, the Lions approached the Broncos about a trade for Cutler, trying to dangle Cassel as bait. Once again, Denver debated the deal and opted against it apparently. What made it a moot point was that while all Tampa, Detroit and Denver engaged in trade talks with New Engalnd, the Patriots went ahead and dealt Cassel to the Chiefs.

Dallas sends Anthony Henry is the compensation for Kitna. Good trade for both teams. Henry is a solid DB.
DE Antonio Smith to Houston.

Now I can calm down a little.
Dangle Matt Cassell as trade bait for Cutler? Has the whole world gone mad?

McDaniels or Bowlen will have to address this in the media. I took one look at the Broncos message boards and it was absolute chaos. They need to publicly affirm that Jay Cutler is their QB going forward, for the fans.....and Cutler too.

Lombardi was quoted out of context in that article. He's one of the better NFL "insiders".

Keith Brooking to Dallas. Don't see how that's an upgrade over Thomas but nobody ever accused Jerry Jones of being rational.
Kurt Warner is scheduled to visit the Niners.

DFF, I'm a fellow Bronco fan and must say, I'd have zero problem with Cutler being traded. Everyone seems to think this will be run Shanahan's way, and it won't. Cutler has skills, but just seems to act like a pouty baby a lot of the time when things don't go his way. If McDeezy is trying to instill the TEAM TEAM TEAM attitude that there was with the Pats, then from what has at least been presented to the public by Cutler doesn't seem to mesh with that. Evidenced by Cutler now being all pissy about the chance that he might have been traded. The team told him "there were offers for you". Well, no one is untradeable. A smart FO will listen to any good offers, regardless of who they are for. If it makes you a better team long term, do it. I dunno, Cutler has good skills but so far seems to have an odd head on his shoulders. Just saying.

Good. That tool let his head get too big with the folklore of one season of success.
I'd be a little more excited if it wasn't Kitna, but it's something.

It looked to me like he was quoting someone else out of context. What am I missing?

Like it as a Texans fan, DC Frank Bush gets a guy who is familiar with his philosophies and the Texans can now look at the draft with a much broader perspective instead of focusing primarily on defensive end. The consensus seems to be either a trade down or Cushing if he's there.
The bottom line is Anthony Weaver is done and that is a good thing for the Texans, Smith could play on one leg and have as much of an impact as Weaver did for us.
Extremely good off season for the Texans so far.

Very, very few QB's come into the league with his skill set. If you think Matt Cassell makes the Broncos better in the long run I'm not sure how to respond.
I don't think he acts like a pouty baby at all and his reaction to misinformation today is understandable IMO.

Depends on how you look at it I guess. Not saying Cassell would be an upgrade, but he is already extremely familiar with McDaniels offence. As far as Cutler's attitude, it's not just what gets reported. I need only watch a Bronco game to dislike the way he acts.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying trade Cutler. He's a good young QB. I think he'll do great for the Broncs long term. I'm just saying that the attitude I've seen so far from other fans of the impeding apocalypse should Cutler be traded strikes me as a bit knee jerk.

I am also a Broncos fan, I have never thought the team could win with him as QB. And this whole knife to the heart quote really makes me sick to think that he thinks that he is untouchable, a guy who couldnt get the team to the playoffs this year or beat SD once.
If you look at this objectively, think what they could have got for Cutler.
Say a 1st rounder next year, 2nd this year, and maybe a 3rd or more. That means you move Cutler, get Cassel, a first, and a third. I think you take a shot with the Cassel/McDaniel combo, and if it doesnt work you use the first round pick next year to draft a qb and if it doest work out you sign Cassel long term and you have 2 first round picks next year.
To me it sounds more as if maybe Detroit and Tampa were fishing thinking that the Denver might want to reunite Cassel with McDaniels and were bringing offers to Denver. Denver would have to look at these offers if they included a 1st rounder and at least think about it given Cutlers preformace so far.

I don't want the Broncos to turn into that team (of which there are a dozen in the NFL) that is perpetually looking for their next franchise QB. They have one now.
Myk, your scenario sets them back years. Take a shot and if it doesn't work start over? No.
Cutler led the team to a .500 season with a 2-14 defense. The offense was fine and improving. I don't see how it can be the subject of any Broncos fans ire!
The quote you are all upset about was not made by Jay Cutler. I'd be careful reading too much into anything of that nature.
