Wrestling is definitely scripted but theres nothing phony about the beating they take night after night. The movie The Wrestler really gives a good glimpse into what its like to be in that industry.

IIRC Jericho went on OTR when he was away from the WWE doing a play or something and said he didn't do roids and didn't believe in them. Its not about size, its about performance. McMahon likes his genetic freaks.

I just went through a bunch of images on google and he doesn't look like hes using roids currently as well.

He's the very last of the best era in wrestling, which began with Bret Hart and ended when Kurt Angle left the show.

For the record, I haven't watched the show in years.

I just got a PVR on the weekend so I may start PVRing Raw. I just like the main storyline so it would take me about 20 minutes to watch a two hour show

I can already tell you what the response of most WWE haters would be. That's it's completely different because the acting in movies and shows is actually good while the acting in wrestling sucks which is crap. Acting is acting and the WWE is no different than any other show on TV other than the fact it mimics a sporting event which is why it is called 'Sports Entertainment'.

I get what you are saying but I would not compare me knowing some songs at a concert to cheering for someone to "win" something when the results have been tampered.

Regardless of me knowing how a concert, movie or show goes, you will not find me screaming at the TV hoping someone wins within that made up show. If you rented Rocky would you be screaming at the TV hoping he or his opponent wins the match? Would you expect anyone else too?

So what's the different between WWE and Rocky? They can perform at a live level, and horribly at that. Their acting is below par and have seen better acting flipping through channels at 1 in the afternoon.

And we all know that people in the public eye don't lie about these kinds of things. See; Yankees Payroll.

What makes you think we all scream at the TV wanting someone to win? I certainly don't. I sit and watch it just like any other show. Sure I have my favorites but unlike a Flames game I don't get pissed off when they lose. Cause I know it's just a show and part of the storyline.

I read Jericho's book last month, and it is a fabulous read, especially if your an old Stampede Wrestling fan.

There are some wrestlers out there that are legitimately tough, Chris Jericho is one of those guys that just doesn't get messed around with. There a story that Bill Goldberg got into Jericho's face backstage at a old WCW card, and Jericho locked him in a front face lock and pretty much choked him unconscious.

Is wrestling fake - from a story line point of view yes
Are wrestlers athletes - yes they are
Would I want to fight one of those guys - No way

I still remember running into the Dynamite Kid in a bar on electric avenue when he was in his prime. He gave me a look that made my testicles retreat into my chest cavity and my bladder into piss mode.

First, I never said all, and if I did I didn't mean to.

Second, I am not talking about you, I am talking about fans like the ones in the video.

Third, you are still watching a soap opera. It has the same quality acting and story line as day time soaps.

Edit: This is just my opinion, I am sure there would be some TV shows I watch that you don't like too.

Fair enough. That's the unfortunate thing when it comes to wrestling mimicing an actual sporting event. You get people who take it too serious and just like sports fans who decide to act like idiots take things too far sometimes. The rest of us should not be grouped in with them though because most wrestling fans are intelligent enough to know it's just a show.

I gotta say though, this thread had so much hilarious potential....just didnt deliver.

It would've been better if she'd been pregnant and he hit her in the baby-maker with a folding chair or tombstoned her or something.

I met Trish Stratus once, that chick had bigger arms then me. Plus she was very hot and very down to earth.

One of the great heel groups of its time, and only one of them was an actually trained wrestler.

In Mick Foley's second book, he completely needled them on every page

And yes, I was a wrestling fan who still tunes in if nothing else is on.
