Here is a question...

Does anyone know how Baja Claw tires will hold up in extreme cold? Like -30 on a consistent basis.

Why not rent a little uhaul trailer for the tires, I imagine their smallest one would work fine and probably wouln't add too much resistance. You also don't have to worry about your rubber getting 'lost' in shipping.

Just drive it with your current tires!

Those tires are what, $300 each? They should be good for 50,000km's + so lets say you put 10,000km's on it and you plan to rotate your spare into the mix (recommended!). the rubber you "waste" might add up to $300...maybe... There is no way it's cheaper to buy some crappy tires, mount them and then haul your old tires. Just drive the mudders and get on with it...

BTW, nice Jeep!

Don't forget to drive fast in the left lane and finger people slowing you down while on your cross country trip.

what about having the dealer ship the tires for you? or the whole jeep? Something to look into.

As per my very first post, I will be driving the truck across Canada but it will be shipped to Nunavut where it will be 100% offroad. There is no pavement here.

If it will be 100% off-road after the first trip I wouldn't worry about the tires you have and I would drive them across country in a heart beat. On a 100% off-road vehicle I would actually get more aggressive bias ply tires as they will resist punctures and will offer better traction off-road than a radial tire. Some good choices for off-road only tires would be Super Swamper Irok's, Super Swamper TSL-SX (one of the toughest tires on the market), and Maxxis Pitbull, but take it for what it's worth I am just some idiot in South Texas that only sees mud and rocks off-road in my off-road only Jeep.

While I do value your opinion I also need to take into account the extreme cold the tires will be seeing. Maybe a radial will hold up better in the cold? 100% off road also includes very hard snow for me. There are roads but they are all dirt in the summer and hard packed snow/ice in the winter.

You think it is OK to put 10,000 highway KM's on the tires becuase that is what they will see during the summer until I put the jeep on the boat and ship it up.

Yeah thinking about it radials will probably be better suited as Bias ply tires will get flat spots in them overnight and in cold weather they may not come out.

I have read a little bit online about the tires you have and some people are claiming they have seen 40K Miles on them mounted on a heavier vehicle.

if you're still looking at the bus option, Greyhound didn't ship to Nfld when I used to work there. And the cost would probably be similar to buying a new set of tires anyway.
