My New Toy - Jeep Wrangler
I bought a 2008 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited while in Calgary over Xmas. I am pretty excited. 34" Baja Claws and a 5" lift already installed on it.
Question:
1. Any other good add-ons to get for this jeep?
2. I need to drive this jeep across Canada to Newfoundland and am wondering how much wear I will put on the tires. Will it be severe?
3. What are some must have's for the jeep?

Well my jeep comes with the following I think this will suffice!
Optional
• Seven Infinity® speakers including subwoofer with 368-watt high-power amplifier
• AM/FM stereo with six-disc DVD/CD changer and MP3/WMA auxiliary jack
(optional on S package)
• SIRIUS™ Satellite Radio (optional on S package)

Just make sure you rotate the tires when you get out there - should help even out the wear on those soft tires.

Those tires look soft, and probably will cost you a fair bit in fuel. I wonder if it'd be cheaper to get some el cheapo rims and tires just for the drive back. Then again, I'm not sure it's possible to get 4 of those Baja Claws inside the Jeep.
Looks bad ass though - I'm sure you'll have fun tearing around the Rock in that!

There will be 10,000+ KM's on these tires pretty much all highway though. Will this kill them or should they still be OK?

I have no problem buying some cheap tires to drive it across the county but I don't think the big ones will all fit in the back. Can anyone chime in here on this one?
What are my options to transport those tires? Roof rack perhaps?

May be able to ship the tires via greyhound? I've found them to be alright.

Finally, a thread to rub it in to offset the doom and gloom economy/layoff threads.

So I have the unlimited version of the Jeep (4 door). Getting 5 of those big tires in the back with the rear seats folded down is out of the question?

You'll probably burn a ton of extra fuel due to the brutal air resistance. It's amazing how much even an "areodynamic" roof ski rack adds if it's not perfectly centered. In the end, it'd probably be cheaper and less hassle to ship them.

Get a roof rack to transport some the tires and store the rest in the back.
Nice ride btw!

I wouldn't worry about the tires. You won't get the life of a BFG Mud Terrain or Goodyear MT/R, but those tires will easily last 40-50K miles.

If you are gonna be taking it on the trails buying a winch would be a very good idea.

Another option would be to ship your Jeep by rail. Would save wear and tear on the tires and vehicle itself, plus the hassle of buying extra tires to drive across Canada.
