For those who don't have it yet:
ISO for Windows 7 Beta 32-bit (English):
Download
ISO for Windows 7 Beta 64-bit (English):
Download
Here's the steps for a key:
1. Visit TechNet Downloads, sign in at the top right and let the page load.
2. Within the same window copy and paste the key URL:
32bit - https://www.microsoft.com/betaexperi...2-ww&LCID=1033
64bit - https://www.microsoft.com/betaexperi...4-ww&LCID=1033
Here's one extra 32 bit key, if you use this key please post that you have so everyone else knows not to use it.

I'm 50% downloaded now. I've never dual booted before, so this will be interesting! Heck, I might even throw Ubuntu on my comp just for a kick!

OK, so I am trying to install it on my old windows XP SP2 machine. I burned the iso to a DVD, put it in the drive, restart the computer....and nothing happens. I have tried a bunch of different key combinations for accessing my BIOS with no luck.
Any ideas?
Edit: OK, so I wrote the ISO to a USB drive as well. In my my newer Vista machine, they both load up the Windows 7 menu fine, so my other machine should do the same.
On the older XP machine, I got into the BIOS, set up the boot order to be from the DVD first, and enabled booting from USB as well. Now, when I boot up the computer, it shows a blinking cursor for a minute or two, then shows "Invalid or damaged bootable partition".
Hmmmm, this is confusing. On one computer, it works as it should. On the other, no.

Thanks Photon, key used. Used it for 64bit. Activated Fine.
This is pretty nice. Some very nice subtle changes from Vista that I can see going over very well with the common user.

Anyone know how much it'll be to upgrade?

In fairness, I think MS could benefit from taking a few pages out of Apple's playbook.

Considering Windows, itself, was created by taking Apple's entire playbook...

You can only install overtop of an existing Vista SP1 installation.

It is an upgrade?
I want to do a clean install, but if I have to do the Vista install and then the Windows 7 install, I may skip the format.

You can dual boot with Vista. But, I'm actually trying to get it running on my XP machine.

You do NOT need to upgrade over an existing installation. I threw in an old 80 gig drive and cleaned installed this fine. One issue I have though (Besides Flash 10 doesnt wanna F'n work) But how did you get the gadgets working? Even if I try to access them in Control Panel, I click and nothing happens.
Possibly cause I did a clean install?

No way they'd call it Windows Vista SP2, with all the negative press around Vista, they want to have a clear separation I'm sure.

So to be clear, this 'New OS' is an upgrade only option? If so, good to see they've reworked the foundations of the a shaky OS....

MS has taken the 2.5 Million download limit off for a couple of weeks.

For anyone who needs a key and doesnt have one, you can follow these steps to get one. I did it and got about 10 keys.
Step 1 : Logon to http://technet.microsoft.com (click on Sign in in the upper right corner with your Passport ID ie: Hotmail etc.)
Step 2 : Copy (Don’t CLICK IT!) one of the links below to the address barand press enter :
32-Bit key :
Code: Select all
https://www.microsoft.com/betaexperi...2-ww&LCID=1033
(Copy and Paste!)
64-bit key :
Code: Select all
https://www.microsoft.com/betaexperi...4-ww&LCID=1033
(Copy and Paste!)
Tip : You can use the 64-bit during a 32-bit installation and a 32-bit key during a 64-bit installation (it seems that getting a 64-bit key is faster!)
Step 3 : If you receive an error, just press CTRL & F5 (non cache load) to refresh (I had to refresh more than 10 times before I received the key), if you’re being redirected then you didn’t follow the steps 1 and 2 correctly!
If you followed the steps correct you should see your key (depending on your version it could also say Windows 7 Beta 32-bit Product Key
