It took me 35 minutes to drive 13 blocks INTO downtown to get home. People were getting stuck on the underpasses below the train tracks between 9th and 10th Ave. Not pretty.

I was just leaving the jobsite in lower mount royal. The hill on 14th street south of 17th ave is really bad. A few cars and suv could not make it up the hill. Macleod trail in and out of downtown is a parking lot.

Wasnt that because they couldnt land..? I can't remember the circumstances surrounding that game.. I just think people here in Calgary get a lil bent out of shape over a snowfall that is pretty typical in Ontario or Quebec.

The snow has stopped here in Red Deer, so I was going to head to the Dome for the game. After reading this thread, I think watching it from the comfort of my living room will be a whole lot easier on the nerves.

Man, I have ROW 1 seats, first time ever for any NHL game! This weather kind of sucks. But oh well, i guess I'll be heading down to the Dome about an hour earlier than usual.

If you leave now, you might be able to get there around 6:30.

Holy crap. Everyone is on their cell. First time I ever got a "all circuits are busy" message on Telus. 16th ave NW is a mess by the hospital. Too hilly. Good thing i have secret short cuts.

Nope. The postponed game in Denver two years ago was the first time a Flames game had ever been suspended.

Just drove from Mount Royal to Cranston. Lotta fun. Took me 20 minutes to drive 1KM to get to the Glenmore/Crowchild interchange, and another 70 minutes the rest of the way. Usually a 25 minute drive.

Think I'm leaving for the c-train station right now...

Brutal weather. On my way out to shovel for the third time now. As soon as you finish shoveling the driveway, you turn back and it needs to be cleared all over again.

So why not wait a while? It's light snow so even 20cm wont be heavy to do later, plus with all the wind it mnight just end up blowing off anyways.

My drive home up Crowchild from Glenmore to Sarcee took 2:20. Usually takes about 30 mins on Friday afternoons. Its no fun out there

Deoxyribonucleic Acid, for example... sounds impressive, right? But have you ever seen what happens if you put something in acid? It dissolves! If we had all this acid in our cells, we'd all dissolve! So much for the Theory of Evolution, Check MATE!

Why don't you leave it and the Snow Angels will come and do it for you.

The sides of the driveway are already fairly high from the last snowfall. I'd rather do it in shifts than try to move that much snow at once up the ever growing snowdrifts.

It just took me 2 and a half hours to drive from Macleod and 39th Ave, to 16th ave and Deerfoot, and then home to Heritage and Macleod. That was brutal. I could have almost driven to Edmonton in that time! Unreal.

2 hours from CREB up on the east side of Deerfoot @ Memorial to Bankview.

Only crazy people will venture out into this without a good reason to. It's really slushy right now but it'll start freezing up very soon and the roads will be pure ice.

When is the storm expected to peak tonight? I can't find a long enough clip of the radar maps to figure out which way things are moving..

Holy, took two hours to get home tonight.
It's not the coldest it's ever been.
It's not the snowiest it's ever been.

But I can't remember traffic this bad ever.. why?

Same here, one of the worst traffic days I've ever seen. Drove by 15 accidents on the way to work this morning.

Have to harp on The City again. Doesn't seem like they've been out there replenishing the sand that they put down over the weekend, at the stop lights everything has been polished down now into a sheet of ice. Oh yah, and I suspect there are lots of moms and grandmas out doing their Xmas shopping today.

I thought the city was trying out a new liquid salt solution this season? I'm wondering if that does any better against these sheets of ice at a lot of intersections.
