(I can't believe I'm about to do this, but it gets ratings, and who doesn't like to see boobs?)
With our ninth selection in the 2008 Calgary Puck Television Draft, we here at the Patterson Corporation are “pleased” to select for our lineup on our new channel MQS-TV, a show that does anything but educates us. Making us laugh through the absurdities in our culture, and keeping the PPV soft-core talk show market alive, nominated for 0 Emmy Awards, 0 Golden Globe Awards, and from what I can tell not even an AVN for its “Too Hot For TV” series. Staring the former mayor of Cincincatti, making it acceptable to chant his name during any melee what so ever, and always leaving us with an insightful final thought: From the Talk Show category, we humbly select from the National Broadcasting Company, The Jerry Springer Show.

I remember liking that show way back when they actually allowed a lot of fighting, but now I can't stomach it. It's really, really disgusting to me. The pole dancing, the Jerry beeds, the useless female security guards... the fact that his old security guard has his own show now... it really bothers me.
admittedly I don't watch it anymore, mind you almost every show got bad before it went off the air. My biggest problem with the Talk Show Category is that I don't watch talk shows. I'm not going to pick a show I haven't watched, so I basically wanted to come up with something entertaining. No one can really argue that watching drunk naked chicks fight isn't entertaining

MQS, you just blew my very positive image of you! I loathe Jerry Springer and think that show is a major reason for the influx of crappy reality TV that dominates the airwaves today. Shame on you, shame.
Ren and Stimpy, awesome. Ren and Stimpy pretty much started the current cartoon rampage that has been going on for the last few years. Smart cartoons that are funny for adults.

Someone had a very positive image of me?
Everyone's got their guilty pleasure. When I was in high school, the zany antics were funny, and to this day I have no problem watching boobs. I take it for what it is, mindless "entertainment".
I can only watch it in small doses. Running on 5 hours sleep over the last two days, it's all I could think of.

I don't remember that part.
I remember the cheating husbands, on stage fights and incited studio riots! If you picked the show based on boobs, you have my approval!

Okay... for my next pick, I'm going to fill the World Category...
A Bit of Fry and Laurie!
Quote:
A Bit of Fry and Laurie, commonly known as ABOFAL, was a British television series starring former Cambridge Footlights members Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie, broadcast on both BBC2 and also BBC1 between 1989 and 1995. It ran for four series, and totalled 26 episodes, including a 35 minute pilot episode in 1987. Both Fry and Laurie have expressed interest in working together again, but this has not yet taken place, due to both men's busy schedules.
The programme was a sketch show cast in a rather eccentric and at times high-brow mould. Elaborate wordplay and innuendo formed the cornerstone of its material — some sketches deliberately threatened to cross the line into vulgarity, but would always finish just before reaching that point.
It was a progressive show, playing with the audience's expectations. For example, it frequently broke the fourth wall; characters would revert into their real-life actors mid-sketch, or the camera would often pan off set into the studio. In addition, the show was punctuated with non-sequitur vox-pops in a similar style to those of Monty Python's Flying Circus, often making irrelevant statements, heavily based on wordplay. Laurie was also seen playing piano and a wide variety of other instruments, and singing comical numbers.
Okay... for my next pick, I'm going to fill the World Category...

Carp! I too figured that I was safe with this one but like I've said before I've been very impressed with the knowledge of quality British TV in this draft.
Very nice pick. Both Fry and Laurie are fantastic.

Well, I'm actually surprised it lasted this long to be quite honest. After Hack & Lube lectured us about what a crap show House is and how none of us even knew who Hugh Laurie was before this show, anyone who didn't know about A Bit of, knows now. What is it they say about assumption?
Goodness, that thread was hilarious.

I actually thought it was taken already, which is why I hadn't selected it in the last two rounds before this one. Something made me decide to search anyway, and that's when I discovered it hadn't been picked!
I'm actually very surprised I was able to get it. After I picked House in the first round, I had just assumed that Bit of F&L would have been on a lot of people's radars. Kinda like when I picked Hell's Kitchen, I knew there was no way I was also going to be able to get Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares - and it was snatched up two picks later (dammit!).
