I already posted the tiebreaking reasons a few posts above yours.
AFC Playoff tiebreakers - N.Y. Jets earns the AFC East division title along with the No. 4 seed based on head-to-head against New England and Miami (2-1 vs. 2-2 for Patriots and 1-2 for Dolphins).

Just checking the standings, I'm so surprised the Eagles are still in the running for a playoff spot. I had written them off after that abysmal Cincinatti Tie and the Baltimore shellacking. Yet they're only a half-game out of 6th. Crazy how mediocre the entire NFL has become.

Those games with Westbrook out/playing injured really hurt this team. With a healthy Westbrook they're right there with the Giants IMO.
A healthy Donovan also has to be part of that equation, but 36 is the lifeline of that team.

Not to mention missing their top two receivers and arguably the best guard in the league (Andrews) for pretty much the entire season.

For sure the time without Curtis hurt them. I'm not so sold on Reggie Brown anymore, though. Terrible season last year, and combined with this year's injury troubles, he's not been a difference maker in 1 game.
Shawn Andrews makes their below average running game an average or slightly better running game. Not to mention the screens he pulled for that are essential to the West coast offense. Gillies was good, but Andrews makes that line one of the best in the NFL. He's been sorely missed.

You will have to take that up with the NFL Competition Committee.

great game in Seattle on sunday, the Hawks came to play and made a game of it. Welker is twice as impressive in person, the guy is just all over the field. Moss looks like he's going through the motions again. Great, great crowd, tons of noise. Pretty damn good for a team that's sucked as hard as Seattle this year. I'm looking to make at least a yearly pilgrimage to Seattle to watch a game now, had a blast.

Qwest Field is awesome! As much as I love the Louisiana Superdome, it doesn't hold a candle to Qwest. I'm planning on going to a game in Husky Stadium next season, that open end that overlooks Lake Washington has to be a great view! I hope so, since I expect the game to be a blowout...

I understand that - I'm just surprised that is how they do tie-breakers. Surely aggregate score head-to-head is a better measuring stick.

Bengals missed a FG at the end right? Eagles lucky to get a tie?
That tie might come in handy!

Not all teams play each other in an NFL season. The system treats every team in the conferance the same regardless of schedule.

Playing the Bengals to a tie should be a detriment.
I shouldn't talk since the Saints play the Lions next week and are notorious for giving winless teams their first.
Go Lions, beat the Colts!

Yeah, I know. If the Saints lose at Chicago on Thursday, it won't matter anyway.
That Lions game is just scary to me, between the long layoff after the Bears game, and a game against the division leading Panthers after, it just screams "overlook us."

Saints are such a strange team. I remember the Aaron Brooks team in 2002 that beat Tampa Bay twice but missed the playoffs by losing to the pre-Palmer Bengals and the expansion Browns. Tampa Bay went on to win the Super Bowl.

The Sunday(or maybe it was MNF) nighter against the Bucs that year was the ONLY time I saw the eventual-Super Bowl Bucs D get shredded that year, Aaron Brooks made them look silly. The Saints have been like this for as long as I can remember. They can beat any team in the league if you get them at the right time, but other times they drop games to, as mentioned, a 1-13 Bengals team.
The worst part of that loss was a win would've put us in the play-offs, which we ultimately ended up missing.

An unfortunate piece of news today. The father of Patriots QB Matt Cassel has passed away so Cassel has left the team and it's unknown when he will be back. I hate the Patriots, but this has nothing to do with football. My condolences to the Cassel family.

Pacman Jones also out for the season due to a neck injury suffered against the Steelers.
Apparently it could be career threatening. It would be kind of ironic (am I using the word right?) if his career finishes due to injury and not suspensions.
