Why not just play in the Calgary sport and social club then? I play on a team there. Its pretty laid back, most teams just wear the same colour shirts or lights vs dark... I dunno, laid back, play for about an hour every week.. Not too bad..

Ends up being 50 - 70 a player. Only problem is you need to have 2 women to play at all times, and its only 4 on 4... Though you really don't need too many people.. 6 guys and a goalie is probably plenty...

At the moment guys, I'm going to have to withdraw my name. The issues I'm having with the headaches aren't being resolved. Doctor, physio, massage, acupuncture, chiro, nothing is helping. So until I'm 100% sure what is going on, I can't risk suffering another head injury. If things change and I'm feeling better I'll definitely let you know and get re-involved.

Sorry to hear that Eddie. It's definitely a smart move to not be messin' where the noggin' is involved. I wish you godspeed in your recovery and doctor appointments.

I'd say we should just rent a gym and play. The reason why I don't think it's a good idea to join a league right now is we really don't know the skill level of the people who are going into this thing, how many people are going to show up and commit, and also the fact that we would have to wait till they start/end a season or hope that they happen to need a spare team to fit into their schedule.

Let's just find a venue and see what happens. We'll sort out jerseys. numbers, etc. later.

My issue with them is that the last time I played through that organization we had to use plastic sticks. I'm a decently tall guy, felt like how I imagine those field hockey girls feel, that and stupid flexy sticks!!!

If that's changed I'd be up for it.

We could also try out GHL Sports, I've played with them this season and it's pretty good, playing out of the Currie Barracks by the MRC.

I'm up for the league in whatever form it ends up taking. I say that assuming that no one is wanting a super competitive league as in that case I'm out.

I am not in shape to contribute if the league involves super hard running and things like that. Basically the pace we played at when did the street hockey get together was good exercise and probably enough.

If the league costs $225 that is fine with me, but I won't commit to that until we can get enough people out. Same goes for uniforms or anything like that.

Don't get me wrong here, I'm totally in, but we need to have a certain core group before we can really commit to anything, and certainly before I will drop $225.

I'm committed, but a super competitive league would see me as a liability.

GHL sounds interesting.

I'm interested in anything really....not sure how I feel about plastic sticks, but I'd still be interested in any/all hockey.

Once it get's to some super competative level, is when I might take a step back. But just keep me updated with whatever the consensus is.

That would be pretty sweet too, just get a feel for where everyone is at. I'm a little rusty myself, I hadn't played hockey for two years prior to this year.

After this Friday I am good for games. Let's do it. Practice, rent a gym, see who comes out, etc.

After thinking about it you guys are right, If we still want to host a team maybe we can do the winter season next year. Its really just about playing hockey and drinking beer.

Men's, I'm the big (as in tall) Chinese guy that wears a helmet with a visor. I play defense for the team.

Ah, I see. I play co-ed in the GHL, but my Superleagues team is the Vipers, so I probably know most of your team. Don't think I've met you though. Sunday afternoons don't work for me or else I'd be playing on that team too

How is the co-ed?

Where would we be doing it this Sunday? We should really look for any free gyms we can play at.

It's okay. I play Sunday nights and Wednesday nights. Some of the girls aren't that good, so you can dangle around them. But there are also some girls that are just as good as guys. Its fun and good cardio. I'm not playing Sundays anymore next season (just got a newborn).

I'm in for Sunday evenings if someone wants to book a gym. But from what the organiser/owner of the GHL told me last week, it didn't sound like there is that many gyms available during the winter
