Using the phone's internet connection on another device, like your laptop. So you can use the internet anywhere your cell phone has a connection.

I tether my iPhone to my MacBook all the time. Works kickassingly. Tethering is included in the $30/6GB plan.
...btw, there's talk now that tethering is going to be a native iPhone feature when 2.2 hits. AT&T has decided to relax on the whole thing and they're going to offer tethering to their customers. (AT&T was the reason Apple pulled Netshare from the App Store and said "no" to tethering)

Edit: Of course, now that AT&T will be charging (possibly) $30 for tethering, it'll be interesting to see if Rogers tries to separate tethering from the existing data plan and charge for it on its own.

Good to know. Thanks!
I won't be needing it til March/April so I will do my shopping then. I know how much things can change in this industry.

Do they still have Fido to Fido across Canada for new plans? I can't seem to find it in their new website (crappy design btw, I thought I was at some dog grooming site at first). If it doesn't have that plan, its better for me just to pay the system access fee, since I rack up thousands of minutes of long distance all for 45 bucks a month.

So I called FIDO today to see if I could get my SAC removed, and no go. I explained to them that I signed up late September for the iPhone, and would have not done so had I known the SAC was going to be removed. The plan I got was the 17.50 a month plan, with 30 dollar iPhone package. That plan expired on November 3rd, and the SAC removal began on November 4th. The lady on the phone told me that they had no idea the head office was going to make this change, but clearly head office knew about it.
The only way to get rid of the system access fee, is to change my plan, and they don't have anything as good as the 17.50 a month option right now, so it isn't worth it. Guess I'm stuck with the 6.95+.50 fees.

It depends if you text or not.
The equivalent plan now is thier $25 plan that gives you only 100 daytime, but you still get evenings and weekends and unlimited text.
If you dont text, keep your current plan with the SAF.

But I also got evenings starting at 5pm for free (or not free if it was included in the 17.50 plan, I can't remember). Overall, it doesn't help me out any to switch. Too bad. I just figured I could make them pity me enough to remove the fee, lol.
