Goodbye System Access Fee!
$6.95 System Access Fee and $0.99 911 Fee gonzo at Fido.
New plans are two years.
Customers with existing plans will still have to pay both fees unless they switch to one of the new plans.

Koodoo... what other ones?
I think Telus, Rogers and Bell all still have them, no?

Yeah, the "main" carriers do. Koodoo (who is really just Telus), Virgin mobile, and I thought Bell had a budget line that did the same too.

Solo runs occasional promos where they will offer "Killer Deals" which match Koodo and have no SAF.
Boo to Fido for charging a freaking $35 activation fee, and charging EXISTING CUSTOMERS $25 if they want to switch to the new plans.

Absolute crap that my less than two month old Fido plan will still have the fee. I might have to complain to get rid of that.

Can somebody please remind me, are you able to take your existing cell phone number to another carrier? or does your former carrier technically own it?

Yes, you can transfer it. I moved from Bell to Virgin a couple of months ago without any problem.

You can port your number over to a new carrier now, just remember to go to the new carrier FIRST - do NOT cancel your account with your existing carrier or they will keep your number.

Solo had no SAF and Bell(if you get the right plan) includes them always.
I pay $25
- 450 minutes
- call display
- voicemail
- unlimited n&w @ 6pm

Crappy, I signed a 3 year agreement when I got my iPhone
EDIT: Oh and their new look looks like I designed it. That's not a compliment.

My 3 year Bell contract is going to be over in a few months, and that looks about 20$ cheaper than what I'm getting right now. Is that with Solo?
Early into my 3 year contract, I had some issues I brought up with Bell's customer service and they were total dicks about it because I had just signed on with them, and they had me by the balls for 3 years. Ever since then, I've been looking forward to the day I flip them the bird and take my business elsewhere.

iPhone for me is "meh"...I would rather have a Crackberry.
However considering the discounts I get on the extra features I have like Unlimited Text for $7.50, and Unlimited Email/BBM for $11.50 it ends up savings me $300/year so I will take it
I will switch to another company if someone comes out with a good tethering package, I know Bell and Telus don't have any and NO ONE at a Rogers Store could even answer the question....or at least "I think it does" is not the right answer I am looking for. People that work at Rogers Stores around here are the worst sales /informative people in the industry!

Sure, the prices are pretty attractive for the Canadian market, but Bells smartphone plans for Q4 are way better. What’s that? Oh, you can tether with all Rogers data plans? Big deal because your network has been so congested lately that it’s not even worth the effort. So why don’t you play nice and offer customers the choice of choosing unlimited data with no tethering or capped data with tethering? It’d make life so much more fun.
|
Sounds like you can tether...

I'm with Fido on an existing contract, does that mean they will lose the fee for people like me or is it only for new clients?
