mine would have to be people who bitch all the time about someone trying to "Cross thread insult" them. It comes across as kind of whiney, and really, who cares? It's a freakin message board.

Now a serious peeve, you go to the grocery store and you're too far from the stick that serperates a person's purchase from another when at the register... the person in front of you knows damn well you're there and that you're going to need it, yet they don't grab the stick for you... In these cases I just reach right through them without an "Excuse me" and they look at me like I'm being rude...
|
My question is - why do you have to wait for the "stick" to put down your stuff? Do people think the slow moving grocery belt will jumble their items? What, a 8" space does not signify the end? Live on the edge!

Stores that charge to use Interac, but don't charge to use credit cards...
People who speed through playground zones but go slow everywhere else.
Myself for getting annoyed at people for doing things that I've done. People that get on the elevator before I get off is annoying, but I've also done it when I'm completely in another timezone. I get annoyed at people who make mistakes driving (left turns into the wrong lane!) but when I make a mistake and someone honks I of course feel bad and want to apologize.

Not really.
In fact, I invite you to try it, for two reasons.
1) It would make me feel special to know that you are devoting so much time to tracking my movements, it would make me feel like I have my very own stalker.
2) In fact Jeff Shantz does suck (at least when I'm not in the building), that's kinda the joke.

The bad grammar or complete word misuse used by some members of my family. Examples:
... I 'seen' this new snow on TV ... ('saw')
... it's a 'mute' point ... ('moot')
... 'irregardless' of what you say... ('regardless' or 'irrespective')
I could list a hundred more...
Of those, there's the number one conversational pet peeve of mine, supplied by my brother:
Every word or sentence he wants to emphasize, he ends with "quote-unquote". If you talk to him for five minutes on any subject, you'll hear it a dozen times. I find it so distracting after a while that I can't even concentrate on listening to him any longer. :darnkids:
Ahhh.... Glad I got that off my chest! Very therapeutic. :P

One thing that really chaps my hide is people that point at me with their index finger. For some reason that just pushes my buttons. Doesn't matter of they are trying to emphasize a point or if they are pointing at me- just don't like it. DON'T POINT AT ME!

Don't want to nit pick, buuuuuuuuuut:
http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=irregardless
I had a big argument with our accountant a few years ago over that word, and even after showing him that it was in fact listed in the dictionary, he still won't believe me. Irregardless, it is still considered a word.......

Waiters or waitresses, or any service people for that matter, who use
"how you guys doing tonight?" as their initial greeting. That just plain sucks. Right away I'm thinking about how the tip is going to be smaller than it would have been otherwise. Excuse me Ms. Waitress, as you can likely tell, my wife is not a guy.
Another pet peeve, but doesnt really offend me are people in the grocery store who cant push the cart without leaning over on to the handles like it's some kind of walker for disabled people. Geez, if bingo is that tiring, maybe they should do the shopping first, then go play with dobbers :P

They probably don't want to touch the handle on the cart. Have you looked at the other people pushing carts around. Snot nosed kids and adults, sneezing and coughing and bleh I don't touch the handles with my hands either. ICK!

Advertising. That's another pet peeve for me. No, I don't want whatever it is you think I need.
|
I hate advertising. Not so much on TV where they are paying for the programing, but in the form of billboards where they get in my face, but offer me nothing.
Nothing disgusts me more than than a 30 foot wide Big Mac blocking my view. You can't even take a p*ss these days without staring at an ad of some kind. I wish those people would stay out of my face.
When I lived in Vancouver, my apartment had a nice view of the Vancouver skyline, and then one day Pattison erected a billboard blocking my view and rented the space to McDonald's. I found it gross and insulting. To me, it is the same thing as vandalism. It's like visual pollution. It actually peeved the whole neighbourhood. We had to have our neighbourhood atmosphere polluted so that peoples could see what new deals McBarf's had for them during their commute. There is so much beauty out there to see, but instead we cover it up with tacky advertising.
/end rant

Well, this isn't a major peeve of mine, but I find it stupid when I'm finishing a transaction at sayyy a gas station, and the clerk tells me to "have a good one".
Have a good one? Its not like I just bought a bag of crack, and am going to get high. Have a good what? Do you think I'm going to siphon the gas out of my tank and go huff it? Have a good one... Pfft.
I also hate it when I'm going into a liquor store or a macs & some kid asks me to buy them booze or smokes. fata off. I'm not going to assist your cancer, or your impending alcoholism.

The only pet peeve of mine would be people who lie, and especially who lie in order to cover up a lie. I don't actually have a problem with someone lying, getting caught and saying, well I lied... sorry. I lie, and I am sure everyone here has lied at some time in their life. But at the same time when someone then lies in order to cover up a lie it sort of gets to me.
but that is only really with some of the more serious things in life. I really try not to sweat the small stuff in life, and just go with the flow.
4X4 I think have a good one is just have a good day. I say that sometimes, and don't think to much of it. I didn't know that upset people.

One of mine just happened tonight.
I was in my living room, on the phone with my buddy. The wife had been in a different room all night. So, I'm on the phone, the TV is on mute, and everything is fine, I'm laughing and having a great conversation. Then the wife comes into the room, turns up the TV, and asks me to leave the room because she can't hear the TV over my talking on the phone.
WTF???
Here's an idea.........why don't you go back into the room you were in for the last couple of hours, crank up the TV as loud as you want, and leave me alone? Or is that just too easy.
Sometimes I don't think the single guys out there really realize how good they've got it.............................
Women. :mad2:
