Okay, he definitely wasn't on my radar. Defending indoor champion in the 400m. I'll add him as a hopeful when I update it tomorrow.

Is it just me?
The thing that makes me mad is they keep on saying another Canadian record for our athlete even though the guy came in 7th place. Is that mean our swimmers are really not that good. No medal so far. When are we getting a medal at all?

By the way, i cannot believe CBC is showing gymnastics right now. Is there any other event going on?

A North Korean shooter tested positive for drugs and had two medals stripped.

What the hell kind of drug would a shooter need to take?

Great job by the womens softball team to beat China 1-0. Their record is now 3-0, and they restart their game with the Americans still leading 1-0. Come on girls!

In some cases 7th is good.. especially when they were worse then 7th in the past.
I'm not crazy about Canadian records but best 'rank' is important.

There's nothing else going on, gymnastics it is. The women's all-around is a marquee event.

Something to slow down the heart-rate and settle nerves. Shooting is very precise and can be very stressful.

Zelinka is off to a great start in the heptathlon, second overall and a personal best in the 100m hurdles.

So many great calls by him. Watching track will be different without him.

Some intermediate results from track and field:
Browne qualified for round 2 in 100m, Armstrong qualified for the finals in shotput, as did Steacy in the hammer. Shotput final goes later today, as does round 2 of the 100m.

Seventh overall after high-jump, her weakest event. Right where she needs to be to make a run at a medal.

I have to say, Australia beats Canada in commercials airing during the Olympics. This one is my favourite:

Canada falls apart in softball. Up 1-0 top of the 6th.

Horrible call in the to screw Canada out of a catch that would've been the first out.
They get an out.

But then, an error by the SS. A ground out to make two outs..but then a hit batter, followed by a passed ball. And another poor error by the SS.

Just like that, 4-1 USA.

Mens' baseball team lost 1-0 to South Korea. Got some chances in the 9th to score but couldn't get it done.

For anyone awake, the soccer team between U.S.A. and Canada is really good right now. All notched up at 1; the American women scored first.

Disappointing baseball game. Thorman just can't strikeout there, so costly. I'm not really sure why Brett Lawrie is in the lineup either. I umpired the kid in the BC Premier League this year, he is an outstanding player, but I don't think he belongs on this team, let alone in the starting lineup.

^ Lawrie is DH as well, isn't he? He didn't have a very good last at bat.

Canada's goalie just made a very good one-on-one save on close range. Awesome play not to get nervous and just concentrate on the ball.

At this particular point, Canada seems like they're playing not to lose. Just hanging on.

Oh crap the U.S. just scored in extra time. Canada has 19 minutes plus extra extra time to try to tie it again.

She looks like a bulked up Jessica Alba! If she wins a medal she will prob get millions in endorsements.

Holy F. Did you guys watch that 100 metres qualifying? Bolt shuts it down at 50 metres and starts looking around and still finishes 9.92 seconds. You could hear some commentator in the background laughing hysterically. hehe

Michael Smith says that you might see him run 9.6 or even 9.5 in the finals! Insane.
