They've used holocaust imagery to "advance" their cause. I don't think you can get worse than that.

Truthfully I don't think they intend to change anyones hearts and minds with this crap. They know it's offensive and they know it'll just turn the people who don't already support them against them further. What it will do is get them in the news and attract those few fanatical people to their organization and up the donations from those fanatics.

It's an extremist organization IMO and all they are trying to do with this crap is attract more extremists.

Too bad most of their funds are raised or contributed by semi intelligent celebs like Pam Anderson who probably think this idea is a awesome to the max idea and will keep tossing money into the coffers of PETA.

Its tempting to go stand in front of a PETA office with a big bucket of KFC while wearing a fur coat and shoes made out of seal skin.

If you add a Pam Anderson Baywatch poster with her head missing you're my hero.

I read the same thing. The program rolled out in 2007, and it was still being displayed; after the incident, they decided to remove it completely.

If you read the article. All you have to do is travel to Red Deer. According to the article they plan on picketing a theater in Red Deer later this week. Wonder why? Any how I'll be down there waiting for you to pummel them.

No one, except for PETA supporters, cares what PETA has to say. They are far too extreme for the general public. Stupid stunts like this only push them further to the fringe. Add to that, the holocaust comparison, the link to firebombings, and even Batman punching a computer generated dog. Their PR is a nightmare and they seem to get their Birkenstocks tied together over anything that even hints at animals abuse, whether there is any there or not.

Picketing a theater does not anger me like picketing a funeral does.

Never been linked to any firebombings. You are confusing PETA with ALF/ELF. FBI has investigated PETA many times and never once came up with a terrorism link. The only link is that sometimes the provide legal counsel for ALF members who have firebombed.

While I personally wouldn't go this far, I think the bolded portion above perfectly outlines my distaste for PETA. They go so far beyond the extreme to make a point that they end up hurting their own cause. Tell me about animal abuse and I could become proactive and sympathetic. Go off the deep end and just try to use shock value to get my attention will only aggravate me to the point that I don't care what you're selling, I don't want to even be associated with you.

But there has been plenty of firebombings by animal rights activists and since PETA is the most popular animals rights group they get put into the same pile as "all animals rights activists". It's not fair, but it happens.

I'm a vegetarian. Have been for a decade and a half. I will not buy leather. I certainly try my best to avoid items that require an animal to be killed. I don't believe so much in "rights" as in "what's right for me", but that's besides the point. What I will definitely say is that PETA works very, very hard for the Texas cattlemen. I know of very few organizations that know just how to turn even the most staunch supporters of their cause against them.

As for the "for every animal you don't eat, I'll eat three", do you eat ham sandwiches in a Mosque? Do you usually go way out of your way to offend people?

And "North Americans are whining about human rights"? When is standing up and demanding that other humans be treated with respect and dignity "whining"? WTF is wrong with this world?!?!
