Oh for Pete's sake. Can't we just stop those Westboro Baptist idiots at customs and keep them out of Canada. Mark it down as rat patrol.

Oh for the love of God. Why these morons aren't locked away somewhere is beyond me.

(Those church-crazies, I mean, not PETA... although maybe them too.)

As if the PETA ad isn't bad enough, now that church of clowns is piping up on this?

Isn't the murder enough of a struggle for the family to deal with? They shouldn't have to deal with a bunch of idiots trying to use it further their own agendas. Some people are just freakin' sick...and I guess its not just the murderer.

Contrary to the overwhelmingly docile facade (insert green) I put on here on CP, I'm itching to dish out a good ass-kicking. If Portage was anywhere near here I'd be on the front lines waiting to pummel this Phelps SOB, and his merry band of inbred freaks.

As much fun as it is to mock PETA (and yes sometimes I do)... we have animal activists exploiting the grayhound beheading for animal rights... meanwhile, North Americans are exploiting an international spots event to whine about human rights, polluition, et al.

Just sayin'

Such a brilliantly vague response.

Let's be clear: comparing a stabbing/beheading/cannibal-ing to eating meat is not the same as using international attention for a sporting event to the warts of the region under the microscope.

Not the same. Not even close. Not even maybe.

Well how do you respond to something like that? Seems pretty clear as you seemed to get it.

Anyways, it doesn't sound like anybody is going to change your mind.

During the 1980 Olympics, I know a popular Western Nation supporting genocide/beheading/cannibaling (more then what happened here, actually cooking and human intestines) / mass executions etc... but that was our own community, so it was ignored.

Quite frankly, I think this PETA thing is a leap of faith. But you know what, it appears some people believe in it and I don't believe I am self-righteous enough to tell people what to think or to criticize how they relate world interests to their own interests. But, I understand opinions and criticism are an every day human insurance, but I was just pointing out some irony I see on this board - again, by people who have opinions who I'm not going to tell them what to think or how they relate information.

Just sayin'

I don't really understand the irony in your post either. Putting an ad out regarding a brutal murder and putting pressure on a government with weak human rights record at a sporting event aren't even in the same ballpark.

Its not self righteous to tell people that they are being f'n ######s. That PETA ad is completely tasteless and classless.

Fair enough, from the comments I read here about PETA and the Beijing Olympics, I didn't think I would be turning many minds. But whatever. I also think its pretty classless and tasteless to use the word ###### in a derogatory manner, but whatever I'm not perfect either. Bit of a pet peeve, but I'm not gonna let it ruin a good Lasko I'm having right now.

But for those that do want to see what I'm saying without disregarding it without a thought, thats for them.

Why don't you just come right out and say what's on your mind? Ambiguity doesn't become you. You're being called out because you (seemingly) let PETA off the hook for taking one of the worst murders in recent Canadian history and using it to further their cause. Please share your grief. You seem to be upset that the masses are not cool with this and your reasoning is not clear. You're making Olympic references. Wanna make a point here?

That's EXACTLY how PETA operates. With self-righteous preaching.

Yup, never said PETA wasn't extremest.

But, I think to a certain extent, we do alot of it ourselves too. I sort of wonder what crazy tree they fall out of too.

Anyways, my intent wasn't to get 4x4 or whoever into a tizzy. Sorry for those I offend, if you don't get it, just forget it and relax; I was aiming more for the crowd that is seeing it the same way in my eyes, that while this does seem a little crazy.

Well, that clears that up. Thanks for the input. PETA = crazy.

S**t like this just boils my ing blood. You know, this kid got his goddamn head chopped off and someone ate him. how bad could it be? Then, some POS organization that slams everyone and everything has to use the opportunity to get their name in the limelight at the expense of this kid. I'm all for the ethical treatment of animals, but PETA is not an organization. THey're a bunch of thugs who use fear and propaganda to spread their message. Then the "church" comes into it. Never mind. this crap pisses me off.

Needless to say that was pulled.
Actually I read online somewhere (will try and find a link later) that this was a campaign that had already ended, they just still had some of the signs/posters up still in depots and whatnot across the country as nothing had replaced it. Greyhound decided it was obviously time to pull it all out following the killing because (unlike PETA or those religious nutjobs) they were sensitive to what had happened.
