So far Sabathia has been nothing short of great for the Brewers 33IP, a 4-0 record and 1.36 ERA in 4 starts for the Brew Crew. Hopefully this pays off for them in terms of a post season berth. If he becomes a free agent this offseason I think he'll be looking at 25 million annually. I still can't believe he's only as old as he is.

Yankees get Damaso Marte and Xavier Nady from the Pirates for 4 prospects.

Jose Tabata was touted as the next Manny Ramirez a couple of seasons ago but has had some attitude issues this year - still he's only 20 years old, lots of time to grow up

Angels first baseman Casey Kotchman was pulled off the field during pregame warm-ups this afternoon at Fenway Park. And there are strong indications he is about to be traded to the Braves for Mark Teixeira, according to a source with knowledge of those discussions. Details are still being finalized, and additional, lesser names are expected to be involved. But Kotchman for Teixeira is the core of this deal.
Bit strange.. did the angels need to do anything?

They don't have a power bat - 'till now, the trade is official - because Vlad hasn't been hitting with power.

I thought they were rumored to be looking at Texiera last year and the supposed asking price was Kotchman and Joe Saunders. They maybe could use a bit more power in their lineup around Vlad and Torii Hunter since Garret Anderson isn't quite what he used to be in the power department. Really they have as good a shot to be in the Series now as they might get again with the Yankees and Sox not exactly firing on all cylinders. I would think that the Power upgrade that they'd get in Texeira vs. Kotchman might be worth it for them. Besides they're as likely to sign him after the year as anyone would be.

With Posada out the Yanks have just acquired Pudge from the Tigers.

I guess they really needed bullpen help. Brandon Inge can fill in behind the plate. I think its a good deal for both teams.

We are going to disagree on this one. The Tigers are in need of a closer or someone to help close the gap from starter to closer. Todd Jones lost his closer job to Rodney, who has very few saves in his career. This deal also saves the Tigers some cash, probably close to 3 mill.

I'd rather have ^ guy closing for me than Kyle Farnsworth.

And isn't Pudge a type A free agent, so DET traded away two first rounders in the deal?

There's a reason they sell Anyone But Farnsworth t-shirts (one in which I'm wearing right now) outside the stadium, the dude is plain awful in tight situations. All the tools and no toolbox!!

Ex Blue Jay Chris Carpenter starts his first game since April 07. He made it 4 innings and threw 67 pitches for St. Louis last night. Great comeback story.

The Reds and White Sox are waiting to hear from Griffey. They have agreed on a trade but Griffey has to approve the move to the Sox.

10:25am: Per Ken Rosenthal, Griffey approved the trade. It might involve $1MM+ in cash somehow.
