...and Rivers wouldn't be the qb in San Diego today if Brees didn't injure his shoulder at the end of 2005. My opinion is that Brees was the key in Gates becoming the player he is today, yours is otherwise, no biggie. I'm more than happy to have that "first round bust" on the Saints.

You know what I meant - the Chargers had given up on Brees and drafted his replacement.
BTW, I'm not down on Brees, I have always felt the Chargers should have kept him and traded Rivers. I think the Chargers were leaning towards giving Rivers the job anyways, and Brees' should just made the justification easy.
But I also think Gates would have been as great a player regardless of who was QB. If anyone would get the credit, it should be LT since he draws so much attention.

Well the Saints(and the Browns, Bears, Cards & Lions) check in today, and touch the field tomorrow. Now comes a month of rushing to the computer straight after work so I can nervously check the Saints boards and make sure nobody broke their leg.
I love and hate this time of year...

Especially for the Browns. Was it two years ago that they had players dropping like flies on the first day or two of camp?

I believe LeCharles Bentley completely destroyed his knee on the first day and was released this past off-season. He was a tremendous talent when he played for the Saints, I'm just hoping the Saints get Ellis signed and in camp.

Hard to say. Apparently he's showing a lot better mobility in camp than he was at this time last year. No signs of a limp or pain whatsoever. He's also throwing bullets so his arm strength hasn't taken a hit. If he stays healthy and the Eagles make the playoffs or win the division then there's no way he's going anywhere.
I think the Eagles are going to surprise some people this year. They have one of the weakest schedules in the league and one of the strongest defenses. The only question on offense is again the WRs. Reggie Brown needs to take a big step forward this year and L.J. Smith has to stay healthy.
DeSean Jackson has looked really good but the big question on him is whether he's strong enough to create seperation at the line. I think he'll do fine in the slot this year.

Speaking of easy schedules. Does anybody have a link for the 2008 NFL Strength of Schedule by team. I read on the ESPN power rankings that the Patriots had the easiest schedule this season. Just wanted to compare it to the other teams in the league.

And there are a always a few good teams from the previous season who underperform in the new one. Over the long haul perhaps the trends play out, but this methodology assumes that good teams stay good and bad teams stay bad, and we know season over season that isn't consistent. Just look at how raped pick'em players are the first few weeks.
