Kinda off topic but don't you just hate the smell afterwards? I return to the office and EVERYONE knows what i had for lunch. hehe
The best PHO ever in Calgary was Sunny's in chinatown. They had a soup which didn't contain msg and it didn't make you feel thirsty afterwards. Plus it was the only place with a large soup which I couldn't finish. Too bad they changed owners and it's not the same now.
I usually goto the one in Hunterhorn. #13! yummm crunchy beef!!
Vietnam Palace on 16th ave is not bad but the staff is terrible. It's almost like they are angry when they see you walk in. hahaha.

I still find Sunnys quite good, lately it has been my go to place for Pho Satay.
The other one we frequent is on the other side of the block, I think it's called Pho Hoai. My Chinese friend told me it is one of the original Pho places in Calgary. Very good as well.

Bun > Pho.
I find Pho never really fills me up.
I work downtown and frequent Ha Long Bay on a weekly basis. Its right on the C-train tracks on 7th ave and at about 2nd street SW.

There's the office smell, then it usually destroys my insides for the rest of the day too. Especially with the hot sauce I put in it. So tasty tho.
I second the place along Bow Trail, that place is amazing.

Out of curiosity, how does the Saigon Y2K on Macleod (kitty-corner from Chinook) rate in the overall Calgary Pho scene?
Personally, I love their Pho Bo Satay... but I don't have much of a basis for comparison.

Saigon's Pho is weak. Also, their meat can be really tough sometimes.
Go to Golden Bell, a bit further north. Much better Pho, and they also have Vietnamese subs.

There is a place in the NW in the Dalbrent shopping center (across from SWC HS). I forgot the name of it. Is it any good?
I get subs there.
Also, near the Dairy Queen in Montgomery, there is a little sub place called Mai Linh

I don't like the place in Dalbrent. The Pho's broth smells too fishy for my tastes. My wife thinks it's fine though.

If you guys are in this area, you should go to Bagolac Saigon.

Bagolac is at 6130 1A Street SW, in that mall with the Mac's across from the Chinook LRT station.
Bagolac and Golden Bell are owned by the same people. Bagolac is more expensive, much busier and the pho inferior. Also, they don't have subs.
EDIT: Bagolac is still better than Saigon Y2K.

Yes, it is. Golden Bell is a bit of a dive. But those lineups at Bagolac really turn me off.
