Great article, read it last week. It's good to see Allen is taking a whole different perspective on that kind of life style. And hopefully he can keep his nose clean with the Vikings.

The thing about Allen is that his attitude and former lifestyle are not that differant than most men his age. When I was in my twenties I was drunk every Friday and Saturday night as well as the occasional Thursday. The thing about pro athletes is the risks are so much greater. Not every young man has the opportunity to make millions of dollars. The drunk driving thing is whole differant story. That is never smart.

NFL network is showing the 2000 Titans Bills game right now, 2 minutes left.
This game taught us about not only the existence, but the importance of football gods. Coach Phillips screws around with the QB that got them to a playoff game by putting in the Dbag Rob Johnson, and the football gods execute a returned TD, complete with a 30 yard lateral that went backwards by about 1 inch with no time left to kick Buffalo and coach Phillips in the groin.
He earned every bit of pain that came with that loss.
Also fun to remember when the Titans were a good football team.

Like most people, I will never forget that game or more importantly that play. I wasn't born when the immaculate reception happened. So for me this was the one really famous play that I can actually tell my kids that I watched live. Other than "The tuck", Romo's screwed up snap on the field goal, or David Tyree's catch in the last Super Bowl.
Personally I don't think the football gods had anything to do with it. It was a well executed play that happened at the right moment. Allthough Dyson was out of position or something to that effect. So maybe there was a lot of luck involved as well.

no, mostly football gods.
As for Dyson it was a set play, he was in pefect position, the entire blocking scheme was planned around the lateral.

Hilarious Clinton Portis video in which he reveals the names to all of his 'characters' and tells a little about each. He never did any of this in Denver and I at times have wondered if he was crazy, but he's clearly all about the comic relief.
Good stuff.

He went with these dudes willingly. Sounds like he got scammed or was doing something he shouldn't have been.
Either way, it looks pretty bad for a guy who was supposed to be a leader on a young Raiders team.
I don't dislike Javon by the way. Good riddance I say. Addition by subtraction for sure.

I know it was a set play "Home Run Throwback". Derrick Mason was the guy who normally would have been the recipient of the lateral. He was injured earlier in the game and was unavailable for the play. Dyson didn't normally play special teams and probably rarely practiced with the special teams.
A week or two ago I watched the end of the game on Game of the Week on NFL Network. Probably the same thing you watched. At the end they had locker room conversations where somebody involved, can't remember exactly who, was out of position or had done something that was not part of the design. Maybe it was Lorenzo Neal receiving the kick? I can't remember for sure.
None the less it was definitely one of the greatest plays in NFL history.

Haha I dont know what it is about those characters, but every time he gets all dressed up in one he weirds me out a little.

Ya... something about the fact that Javon was alone, in the middle of a Vegas street, in the middle of the night didnt add up. Where was his entourage? Why was he out there? Why was he found unconscious instead of reported unconscious by someone who is his friend.
Hopefully this humbles and embarrasses Walker enough that he puts his head down and just plays football this season.
Naive? Yup.

After watching the replay multiple times, I thought it was most likely a forward pass, IMO. Wycheck threw it forward...

More on Javon Walker. I kind of suspected this could be the underlying issue here.

It coudn't have been any closer. At the time I woudn't have been surprised either way. Allthough I do believe that it was in fact a lateral or basically a 90 degree pass, and that is after watching numerous angles and computer recreations. One fraction of a millimeter more and it would have been a forward pass. It will be debated untill the end of time. Just like the debate on the Immaculate Reception actually being an incomplete pass or not.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell speaks out about ridiculous rookie salaries. I'm sure most here would agree with him.
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3463911
Quote:
There's something wrong about the system," Goodell said Friday. "The money should go to people who perform."
Goodell referred to Michigan tackle Jake Long's five-year, $57.75 million contract -- with $30 million guaranteed. Long was the first overall draft pick by the Miami Dolphins in April.
"He doesn't have to play a down in the NFL and he already has his money," Goodell said during a question-and-answer period at the end of a weeklong sports symposium at the Chautauqua Institution. "Now, with the economics where they are, the consequences if you don't evaluate that player, you can lose a significant amount of money.
"And that money is not going to players that are performing. It's going to a player that never makes it in the NFL. And I think that's ridiculous."

Big day for Chiefs fans. This story is on the Yahoo! Main page.
Chiefs to ban standing in the stands during games.
http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/blog/shu...?urn=nfl,91291
As someone who has been to Arrowhead numerous times. I think this will be a hard one to enforce. Or maybe not since the Chiefs can't score points anyway.
